The core range of Bowmore (12, 15 Darkest, and 18) is very underwhelming. Although I would buy a case of Laimrig if I could find it and the Tempest VI was very good.
I've had four BenRiachs: Curiositas, 12 yr old Sherry Wood, 15 yr old PX Finish and 17 yr old Septendicem, none of which I have replaced or have inspired me to delve further into their more expensive offerings.

I've long been a fan of the Grant & Sons' line of Gibson's Finest expressions. I consider their 18 year old to be one of my absolute favorite whiskies, and their 12 year old is quite nice, and I like their NAS too. Current names for those are Venerable, Rare, and Sterling.
So I was quite excited earlier this year when they came out with their 8 year expression, called Bold. Then I tried a sample and was entirely underwhelmed. Just in case my palate was off that day I've since acquired another sample and it's currently waiting in the wings, but I sadly don't have much hope.

I was blown away early in my journey by A'Bunadh, and rushed out to by the age stated range. However, I've found each of them has underperformed compared to the cask strength bruiser.
When Armstrong owned Bladnoch I tried the 10 at 55%, and then the 11. It took me a while to get to the 12, by which time the distillery was closed. When I opened it, it was practically undrinkable, making me question all the stockpiles I had of this now unobtainium. Fortunately a year of air turned it into something drinkable but not at the level of the other bottles.

On principle every distillery that has released a cheap NAS to replace an aged expression, and at a higher price, has disappointed me and ensured I din't buy their product.
To be specific on a distillery for OBs, I can't answer that just yet.

I feel disappointed by almost all of them as of lately. It seems that most distilleries today are jumping on the bandwagon of putting out overpriced NAS bottles with a lot of BS marketing hype instead of trusting that their product holds up and perhaps forfeiting short-time profits for the credibility of the brand. Ardbeg comes to mind. One age-stated and 4-5 NAS?

We've recently been discussing which distilleries have never disappointed:

I'd like to know if there are any distilleries, ones for which you had high hopes, that HAVE disappointed.
