Which whisky for a music festival?

I'm going to a (very) small local music festival on Saturday night. Any suggestions for the dram I should take with me? Music lineup is Soul, Blues and Rock.

After looking thru your Cabinet I would either take the Laphroaig Quarter Cask or the Talisker 10 yo. Which music festival are you going to? Any groups we might know? Have a great time and enjoy the music.

Thanks for the suggestions Lars. As luck would have it you've selected the 2 bottles in my cabinet which have only about 2 drams left in them :( Oh well there's plenty of time to buy more. I may have overstated the case in calling it a "festival". It's actually just a charity fund raising event with only a few local bands, so nobody you're likely to have heard of. It's an annual event and, weather permitting, should be a great night. Thanks again.

@Col hope you enjoy your event on Saturday, sounds fun, I'd go with the Talisker 10 too.

I can't resist giving our own Whisky & Music Festival a bit of a plug at this point www.purefestival.com two days of top bands and great whisky - London 24th & 25th September

Jean-Luc, thanks I'm looking forward to it and it looks like I may be taking young Master Talisker along with me. Purefestival sounds like it's going to be a blast. Unfortunately I'm down in the south west of England that weekend and won't be able to go along. I wish you every success with it and I hope all those lucky enough to be there have a great time.

I would go for some Eagle Rare or something along those lines. You can have it neat, on the rocks, or if you dare mix it (and not feel bad about it). I usually don't bring anything too nice with me to festivals. Sometimes it doesn't always make it at some venues around my area. Enjoy!

I'd take a relatively cheap but good blend like Johnnie Walker black with me, because the conditions in which you have to transport and keep it most likely won't allow you to enjoy a good single malt to the fullest. But if you can sneak in a bottle, bring on the good stuff!

Here in the States, I enjoy attending American "old time" music festivals where we pretty much play our own old-time music. Once when I joined a jam, the good news was that there was a bottle of Buffalo Trace bourbon at my feet; the bad news was that it was empty :-(

There is quite an active American old-time music following in the UK ... here is one link: www.foaotmad.org.uk

Another thought comes to mind regarding old-time music jams that I have attended, especially in the southeastern Appalachain mountain areas of the US. Someone often contributes a good-size jar of smooth and creamy homemade corn liquor, affectionately referred to as moonshine. Maybe this is part of the reason that we enjoy old-timey music jams so much :-)

Gentlemen, thank you for all the great suggestions. I was going to take along a bottle of BNJ but couldn't find one locally today. So instead I've gone for an Aberlour 10 yo, which is new to me, is on special in my local store and has received positive reviews from fellow "Connosrs".
