Hypnotic, Euphoric, Relaxing, and Energising all at the same time. Just like a good malt.

@Nemesis101 I should also have added that this was the tune and album I had playing in the car whilst cruising around Islay a couple of years ago. Amazing island!

@tabarakRazvi 100% agree...I instantly thought of Dave Brubeck's "Take Five", and then clicked your link to YouTube only to have that very same tune to start things out - lol.

@tabarakRazvi: I'm not sure how it goes! Do I drink Malt while listening to the fabulous Shirley Horn or do I listen while savoring a fine malt? Either way it's great combination! I had to give up on Jimmy Smith, I simply couldn't keep up!
Cheers!

@FMichael glad you concur. Take 5 is one of my absolute favorite tunes especially when enjoying a dram. Immediate sophistication...
@A'bunadhman haha I don't know how the two are different!

I like jazz and I even have the Dave Brubek CD, but it's not what I think of for whisky music. Jazz would make good background music for drinking, but if I want to actively listen to music with my dram I probably want something more brooding: The Lord of the Rings soundtrack, or one of my all-time favorite songs: "No Quarter" by Led Zeppelin.

Why are jazz and Scotch such a perfect fit? The Celts and Picts must have had swing in their blood. A few favorites:
Bourbon and American whiskey, on the other hand, go with classic Southern rock...
...even if the band is from San Francisco:

Pretty Much anything from Mark Lanegan solo albums...in particular, songs from the aptly titled "Whiskey for the Holy Ghost".

I generally listen to bands like Quo Vadis, Death, or Blind Guardian when drinking or not.
But usually my whisky drinking occurs while gaming, so I often am listening to whatever's in the game itself.

@jeffilli, @paddockjudge, one borbon, one scotch and one beer... Sounds good to me, but I'll take John Lee Hooker over George Thorogood every time! ; )
