For bourbon: Alabama Shakes and JJ Grey and Mofro
New Orleans Jazz Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Hugh Laurie, Dr john, Kermit Ruffins youtu.be/l5VDMbeBsDQ youtu.be/HT4RainY-lY youtu.be/EJu8ihVdygY youtu.be/DdW2G3hZorY Just a few. ;D
Chemical Brothers - Escape Velocity. www.youtube.com/watch
Hypnotic, Euphoric, Relaxing, and Energising all at the same time. Just like a good malt.
@Nemesis101 I should also have added that this was the tune and album I had playing in the car whilst cruising around Islay a couple of years ago. Amazing island!
@tabarakRazvi 100% agree...I instantly thought of Dave Brubeck's "Take Five", and then clicked your link to YouTube only to have that very same tune to start things out - lol.
@tabarakRazvi: I'm not sure how it goes! Do I drink Malt while listening to the fabulous Shirley Horn or do I listen while savoring a fine malt? Either way it's great combination! I had to give up on Jimmy Smith, I simply couldn't keep up!

@FMichael glad you concur. Take 5 is one of my absolute favorite tunes especially when enjoying a dram. Immediate sophistication...
@A'bunadhman haha I don't know how the two are different!
I like jazz and I even have the Dave Brubek CD, but it's not what I think of for whisky music. Jazz would make good background music for drinking, but if I want to actively listen to music with my dram I probably want something more brooding: The Lord of the Rings soundtrack, or one of my all-time favorite songs: "No Quarter" by Led Zeppelin.
@valuewhisky, No Quarter... Great song!
Why are jazz and Scotch such a perfect fit? The Celts and Picts must have had swing in their blood. A few favorites:
Bourbon and American whiskey, on the other hand, go with classic Southern rock...
...even if the band is from San Francisco:
Can never go wrong will Stan the Man... www.youtube.com/watch
@Eli: Great tune and beautifully played (of course), Thank You!
Pretty Much anything from Mark Lanegan solo albums...in particular, songs from the aptly titled "Whiskey for the Holy Ghost".
.38 Special .... I still drink to this music...hahaha
I generally listen to bands like Quo Vadis, Death, or Blind Guardian when drinking or not.
But usually my whisky drinking occurs while gaming, so I often am listening to whatever's in the game itself.
Little Milton while sippin' some Old Forester Birthday bourbon...it's gotta be somebodies birthday.
@jeffilli - One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer.
@jeffilli, @paddockjudge, one borbon, one scotch and one beer... Sounds good to me, but I'll take John Lee Hooker over George Thorogood every time! ; )
one bourbon would be even better... ; )
@CanadianNinja - shake it up a little. One Scotch, One Bourbon, One Beer - Sonny Terry Brownie McGhee
Nobody has mentioned Murder by Death yet?!
Two Canadians worthy of connosr - Julian Fauth and Gibson's Rare 18 yr-old.
White Buffalo with something smoky.
