This is a little tricky because you are mixing flavour profiles so much. If I were offering these five, my order would be: Dickel, Ballantines, Yamazaki, Woodford Reserve, and Ardbeg. The Dickel has to be first, or you won't be able to taste it. The Ardbeg has to be last. You have some options in the middle.

@Victor - Would you recommend I stick to bourbon for the tasting to keep the flavor profiles more similar?
I could do any of the following: Buffalo Trace, Eagle Rare 10 yr, Dickel #12, Woodford, OGD 114.

Ooops! Left out the Buffalo Trace. I'd put that after the Woodford's Reserve.

The bourbon and Tennessee tasting you propose would be a good one, with good variety of flavours.
I wouldn't hesitate to do a mixed flavour profile tasting, but I would take my time between whiskies, and be sure to have some palate cleansing foods on hand.

@Victor So then the order would be Dickel #12, Eagle Rare 10 yr, Woodford Reserve, Buffalo Trace, then OGD 114?
By the way, I know you love the OGD 114 and after the bottle was open for several months, it has really become an amazing bourbon. The first few times I tried it, it was too hot, though it certainly cooled off a little after being open.

@onebourbon, yes, I would go with the order you outlined.
As to Old Grand-Dad 114, everything about that whiskey just makes me laugh and smile. (as I have repeatedly stated on Connosr) Would it be heresy to add water to OGD 114? I don't know...I've never tried it!

I am planning to do an informal tasting with a few friends who are novice whisky drinkers. Of the following, what order would you recommend? I will probably drop one to make it 5 drams but I am not sure which one yet.
George Dickel #12 Buffalo Trace Woodford Reserve Ballantines 17 yr Yamazaki 12 yr Ardbeg 10 yr
