I'm drinking non-chilled 12yo Aberlour as I'm writing this. Indeed a fine whisky. I bought this pretty much on a hunch (and @BlissInABarrel's hunch, who I happenf to be in a conversation with while I was in the bottle shop), and it was even a lot better than the hunch. I recommend it strongly.

@NilsG Personally I like the 12 yr Non-Chill filter Aberlour better than the A'bunadh...How would you rate the 2?

@FMichael I haven't had the pleasure of drinking A'bunadh yet. Actually I was looking for it but found the non-chilled and bought it instead. I wouldn't be surprised if I'll find the A'bunadh even better since it's cask strength, and therefore it's high up on my to-drink list, cause the non-chilled 12yo is nothing less than great.

@NilsG Try the A'bunadh when you get the chance but until then enjoy the 12yr they are both outstanding whiskies and in my humble non expert opinion come into their own with small amount of water. :)

@PMessinger I'm not too much of a water guy, but I agree that the 12yo is clearly at its best with a few drops.

I enjoy the non-chillfiltered version of Malt Whiskies because they taste better - Texture, flavor and, indeed, mouth feel are much superior: Most, but not all vendors that present un-filtered Whisky manage to do so without the addition of the dreaded E150 colorant. To my way of thinking non-colored, un-filtered Whisky at 46% ABV. (and above) is the most positive thing to happen to the dram in my lifetime.
Slainte.
