@Mantisking Marty's Liquor in Newton. I've only been there once, but needless to say I was quite happy with my visit.

@Jarlsberg I thought that might be the case. Glad to know as my Loch & K(e)y bottling of Ardmore took a serious beating last night.

Picked up a Glenmorangie 10 yr old and an Auchentoshan Classic Bourbon Oak for $29.99 each. Also got a Laphroaig 10 yr old for $39.00 and Ardbeg 10 yr old for $34.00.

I was just willing to drive a couple of hours today to pick up some Laphroaig 18 for $ 58 total in Pennsylvania. Seeing it on my recent drive to Toronto without being able to buy it due to customs/duties restraints had been burning a hole in my head. (@Wodha, you know what I mean.) It was a beautiful drive up, and an even more beautiful drive back.

Picked up a couple of bottles of Laphroaig 40 Year Old for $400 each. Expensive I know, but one heck of a deal if you look at current retail.

I got a Bruichladdich Infinity 3 for € 45,- and a Laphroaig 18 for € 49,- in the last weeks and I thought I made a very good deal but when I see what victor paid for the frog18...

ok, it is not top of the shelf stuff, but yesterday I picked up J&B 15 reserve for 20 euro! And going a bit off topic, would you buy a bottle of chivas 18 for 36 euro? that was the price...

@lucadanna1985, Chivas Regal is a decent blend and for € 36,- I would definitly grab a bottle and give it a try; usually it is priced between 50 and 70 € which is too expensive in my opinion.

@lucadanna1985 Yea, I think the Chivas 18 is quite fantastic actually. Leagues better than the standard Chivas Regal. Not a bad price for it.

Yesterday I found a bottle of Pappy Van Winkle 15 year old for € 55. I bought a bottle in the same shop a couple of months ago for € 105 and I was planning on buying this bottle with the idea of having to pay the same price, when the store owner informed me. I had to ask him again to see if I heard right. :D Needless to say it made my day.

@Fons, it will be interesting to see WHICH Pappy Van Winkle 15 you bought, both just now, and a couple of months back. The Fall 2011 release (this year mostly in Dec 2011 in the USA, 6-8 weeks later than usual) of PVW15 is 100% Buffalo Trace distillate, for the first time. If you have sampled bottles of PVW 15 from 6 months or more ago, and you taste some of the new BT distillate, it will be obvious that you are drinking a very different flavour profile whiskey. Some like what I call "New 15" a lot. "New 15" is much different from "Old 15", and I am an "Old 15", i.e. Stitzel Weller PVW 15, lover. Demand for "New 15" appears to be every bit as great, if not more so, than it ever has been for PVW 15. The good news, in my book, for "Old 15" lovers is that BT has long been making the Van Winkle 12 Bourbon, and the flavour profile of that one is not so very far away from that of "Old 15". There is hope that in time they may do a better job of approximating "Old 15" at the Buffalo Trace distillery, with repeated attempts, if, indeed, they are trying to do so. In any case, the price you paid was an excellent one. In the US, with Van Winkle, the prices don't rise very high for the under 20 yo products, BUT, you just can't often find any available for sale. Around here, people fight it out, and nag the hell out of the store managers, just to get a single bottle of ANY of the Van Winkle products.

That's an interesting question you pose, @Victor, as always. I’ll have to look into this, although I am not planning on opening this little gem anytime soon. I’m waiting on a special occasion to justify this. But I’ll be sure to check the two bottles for any useful information. Thanks for your insight.

@Fons, the labels will be identical to the historical Stitzel-Weller Pappy Van Winkle 15. Prior to opening the bottles the only way for you to get useful information as to when they were released, and hence, from which distillery they originated, is to ask your dealer when HE received the bottles which you bought from him. If he received the bottles prior to December 2011, they are probably Stitzel-Weller PVW15. If he received them afterwards, it could go either way, depending on the peculiarities of the supply chain bringing the product to Europe.

He only received the bottle a week or two ago (and he was only able to get one bottle), and considering the price he got it at and was selling it, I'm guessing it to be the BT PVW 15. Not that I mind though.

Washington state is turning from state run liquor stores to private. The last stores will close June 1, 2012. On the first of each month a new round of clearance prices are quietly pushed out. It's unadvertised and differs from store to store. I stopped by two stores today the first, downtown Bellevue, had nothing special, the second, University Village had crazy deals. I bought a Big Peat, two bottles of Amrut and one Arran 10 yo for $26 each. Crazy deals. I also picked up two Isle of Skye for $15 each. If you live in Washington state go hit your local stores on the first of each month and you might get lucky!

I came across Ardbeg Ten on the discontinued shelf in a store in Edmonton for $52.77 so I snapped them up as Ardbeg is one of my favs. When I go my this store I always drop in to take a peek. Not the great deal that others are sharing, but this is Canada, eh :)

Talisker 18 was picked up for me in Kentucky last month by my dad and his wife for $60. Good timing too, as the store selling the bottle has gone from 40+ bottles to one remaining (as of tonight) in stock in only a month!
Finally picked up the bottle from the parental courier unit :) last weekend and opened it with them as a thank you for services rendered. Awesome stuff!

@Pudge72 Talisker 18 seems to always be in supply where I am. $72.99 per bottle. Not a bad price I'd say

Picked up a bottle of PC7 today for $90 USD. It usually retails for $150 USD in this area.

@lmann86 - Not a bad price at all. I thought I was doing well getting a few bottles of Talisker 18 at AUD$99.00 each - however in Australia that is a pretty good price I suppose. :-)

I picked up a bottle of Hirsch 20 year old American Whiskey tonight for $30. I'm really hoping I got a steal on this one.

@Mantisking picked up a pc7 on eBay for $62 plus shipping! Incredible deal!

@lmann86, I am getting a Glenlivet 25 for $190(After tax) and a Littlemill 17 for $79, thinking which should I pick up. Any opinions.

@DevD is the Littlemill a independent bottling? The Livet 25 for under $200 is def a steal...I just picked up a Highland Park 18 for $85 today
