Malts of Scotland bottled a young Laddie from their warehouses for their spring 2015 releases. This Bruichladdich 2004 slept on a bourbon cask for 10 years. When I take a look at my records, I see that this is already my 42nd Laddie. Yummie.

The nose is farily sweet, but also a tad salty. Loads of earthy notes. Wet rocks. Citrus fruit left, patato skins right. Peel of banana. Not the fruit, just the peel. Citrus becomes louder. Lemon, mostly. Fairly little peat, but it is there. I even get a very small amount of plasticine in the background. I quite like this. Adding water brings out more of the plasticine, but the lemon keeps it under control.

It is oily on the palate. Nicely spiced. Warm pepper, salt and the peat is quite present now, which results in a smoky mouthfeel. Again loads of lemon. Sugared peels, actually. A leaf of mint? No, rather menthol. Diluted it remains oily and the menthol becomes louder. But nothing else change, not for the better nor for the worse.

I get some oak for the first time in the long finish, but the lemon and peat remain dominating.

Great spring whisky from Islay, despite the fact that it is fairly simply. It does not always have to be complex, right? Good swimmer too. Around 80 EUR, which is my only point of criticism. That is a bit expensive for a 10 Year Old imho.
