The term Organic refers to the fact that this whisky was produced in a traditional and green way. Biodynamic as they say. It even got a quality label from the Bio Dynamic Argicultural Association. The first Organic appeared in 2009, this is the most recent. As can be seen on the label, the barley used for its production comes from three Scottish farms, none of them on Islay itself.
The nose is sweet on white and red fruit (apples, pears, strawberries and raspberries) but predominantly grainy. Young animal indeed. Carton, even. Not totally unpleasant, but rather thin.
Slightly creamy on the palate, but still a bit boring. The fruit is immediately killed by a very bitter taste. Again carton. Oh, oh, this is a goner. It starts to resemble a geneva the longer you taste it. Surely, that is not meant to be?
The finish may bes weet and spicy, it remains to bitter to be called a beauty.
It costs around 35 EUR, but for that price you can also buy the Laddie Ten. My choice was easy. Thanks for the sample nonetheless, Jan!
