Very light yellow in colour, cheap cider. First smell is just alcohol heat moving to vanilla. First taste is a touch of vanilla sweetness, but finishing with strong wood ash flavours. Quite long, and remaining smokey.

if this is the one bottled for the lcbo, i'm pretty sure it's 15. i sampled it a couple weeks back and loved it. i was still tasting it in my mouth a half hour later. i'm a caol ila fan, though...

@thecyclingyogi I'm planning to grab a bottle while in Ottawa and wanted to know how would you rate it ? I'm also a fan of Coal Ila, the 12 yo being probably the best single malt I've tasted yet giving it a 88. Just wanted your impression to build up the excitement. Thanks.

@CongacFan it's delicious. personally, i like it better than the 12 (and i really like the 12!) it really is brilliant, imho. hopefully the lcbo you plan to visit has a tasting bar so you can try it first. at fifteen years, i would like to see it offered at cask strength for that price (150 CAD). that being said, i definitely plan on picking up a bottle, likely when the weather turns cold.
