Cask Six is a Belgian club from Mol that celebrated their 10th Anniversary in 2014 with a bottling by The Whisky Mercenary. This is not Jürgen Vromans’ first Clynelish. He already selected two Clynelish from 1997 before and both were great. So I am again expecting a very nice Clynelish.
The nose is creamy and round with loads of fruit. Stewed pears, grapefruit, passion fruit, a hint of green banana and sugared lemon slices. Beeswax. Fir honey makes it succulent. All very typical and oh so good.
Wondefully sweet and succulent on the palate. Almost fatty, in fact. All the fruit returns, but in a wonderful marmalade. Not a lot of oak or spices, but that does not make it any less good. On the contrary. A lot more citrus (grapefruit, lemon) than the nose promised. Even quite zesty. Delicious!
Nice long and warm finish that, despite the mildly drying effect, remains fruity until the last moment.
Absolutely one of the best Clynelish 1997. Was about 85 EUR, but long gone, of course. Darn.
