Nose: Waxy, honey, and richly fruity. Notes of toffee, apricot, quince, plum jam, and raspberry compote. It's all a bit elegant. There's a nervous quality as it flits back to lemons and wax. Vanilla and salty grass. Dried mango and bread pudding. There's a lot to like here. Candied apples and sweet chai in the aether.
Palate: Rich butter goodness. The wood is a bit loud here, even before the midpalate transition, but it fades a leaves behind a veritable trove. Chewy, tobacco, and bitter-sweet fudge. The sherry is more prominent here. Still more lemon zest, vanilla, and subtle waxy honey. Malty. Salt and a really great burned tyre and ash quality. The wood becomes less of an issue and turns more to ash/hay the more one sips, which devolves into a delicious cycle of uisgea'ing.
Finish: Lovely and highly drinkable - and a bit rich. The sherry is nice and balanced, and it's certainly got traditional Clynelish elements. The sherry does get a bit lost at times, but it's all great and well done. I really enjoyed this. A lot.
