I scored this sample of Dalmore new make at the Spirits in the Sky festival in Belgium in November 2014. Since it is not commercially available, I will keep my notes short – I think.
The typical smell of cooked vegetables which I get in almost any new make is present here as well, but a lot less obvious than expected. Loads of malted barley and already some fruity notes, without any one particular jumping out. Somewhat floral. Violets. Stable scent all the way in the back. No off note of any kind. Very clean.
Obviously very picquant on the palate because of the high alcohol content. It is scorching my throat, so let me add some water. That makes it very creamy and soft. It remains feisty and turns extremely sweet al of a sudden.
The finish is tremendously long, sweet and spicy.
Grand new make that promises good things to come. Boy, do I love this.
