Evan Williams is a brand produced by Heaven Hill, along with brands such as Henry T. McKenna, Elijah Craig, Fighting Cock, Rittenhouse, Pikesville Supreme, Parkers Heritage Collection, and, of course, Heaven Hill. The reviewed bottle from barrel # 747 was distilled 22 Oct 2001 and bottled 31 Aug 2011, making it 9 years 10 months old. The bottle is 95% full, has been open for a little over 2 years and preserved with inert gases for 16 months
Nose: sweet maple, vanilla, natural caramel, some cloves, nutmeg, and black pepper from rye, and, yes, just the slightest hint of flavour from corn. Light, pleasant, and sweet
Taste: very good and much more full translation of flavours from the nose; very sweet and relatively light
Finish: stays quite sweet and relatively light with all of the flavours intact for a long period
Balance: if you like sweet and mellow, then you will like this. You have to like sweet, though
