I think it has to be Talisker 10 year old, though I tried the 18 year old again recently and I could be convinced :-)

First, I just noticed the reply feature - Nice job @Jean-Luc!
I think my favorite go-to dram has to be the Highland Park 12yr. If I could afford it, it'd be the 18yr HP.

I don't really have a daily dram - I only drink a couple a week normally (after going to the gym, I'm always dehydrated and don't really feel like drinking anything alcoholic). But if I were to pick something it would be a toss-up between the Glemorangie Astar, the Highland Park 12, the Ardbeg 10 or the Laphroaig Quarter-Cask...

Daily....could happen :-) Then I favor something very easy drinking like Blackbush or Jon, Mark & Robbo.

Hmmmm... variety is good so it's hard to narrow it down. Glenrothes 1991 or Laphroaig 15 I guess depending on my mood.

I have to be fairly price-conscious so I drink a lot of blends. I was first hooked on Passport and I've recently enjoyed Elijah Craig 12 Year and McClelland's Islay.

I think it's the Chieftains' Caol Ila 13yo Manzanilla finish; this realy is a superb dram! Second or very close to the CI is (of course) Ardbeg 10/Renaissance.

Templeton Rye (from Iowa) Not listed here on this site but a great American Rye whiskey available in stores in Iowa and surrounding states. I highly recommend it if you like rye at all.

I tend to cycle between Lagavulin 16 and Talisker 10. Depends on my mood and how stressfull the day was.

Hard to say, if you exclude your favorites, since these are mostly too expensive for a daily dram or not exactly that what you would like to have before dinner.
Bushmills is a gentle whiskey that leaves your taste unaffected to enjoy the dinner, not too expensive, rich in subtile flavours and worth the discovery as such.

I really enjoy whisky as an aperitif - in fact I am right now - an SMWS Yamazaki, lovely. Not an everyday dram though at 62.6% (yikes!)

As many of you have mentioned, it quite depends on the daily mood. However, here is a couple of favorites. Glenfiddich 15 yo Solera Reserve, Yamazaki 12 yo and Glenmorangie 10 yo. On a dark winter night a Laphroaig 10 yo is never wrong :-)

Bushmill 10y, Glenfiddich 12y/15y, Highland Park 12y or Famous Grousse (blend)

@Cave, if you like the Bushmills 10, you should definitely try the 16 as well, which is much better in my opinion. Check out connosr.com/reviews/bushmills/….

My daily dram for the moment is the Amrut Fusion. I bought this one before it started being praised by all the reviewers. Next to that I regularly drink a glass of Lagavulin 16y.

Tesco's "Value" brand....£4.99 per litre!!! Don't bother decanting it, just break the neck of the bottle off over the nearest table and drink from the husk, a la any 60's/70's B movie Western!!! MMMMmmmm

The daily dram had to be just that, an everyday pleasure. I save the malts for the weekend and for drinking with friends. Living in Spain I have easy access to two fine blends: Cutty Sark (just under 11 euros a bottle) and Vat 69, which I guess is under-rated by most whisky drinkers, but imho is delicious. And at present in the local supermarket it is selling for 16.50 euros for three bottles (Lleva tres, paga dos). At 5.50 euros a bottle it is the very definition of an affordable treat. Of course if I want to buy a decent malt in Spain, I pretty much have to pay through the nose, e.g. 65 euros for a bottle of Lagavulin 16yo.

Although it is not everyday, I am partial to Maker's Mark. in fact I am having some right now. It is clean and at the price I don't mind mixing it with whatever I have on hand. I have found that it blends well with Costco's Apple, Peach, Passion fruit juice (hope that doesn't offend too many purists).

Depending on mood, but since we talk about "daily" its not the most expensive stuff or the ones with most complex taste .. Old Pulteney 12yr or a bourbon like Elijah Craig 12yr. And i recently discovered Famous Grouse Port Wood Finish to be a nice blended for a good price.

Balvenie Double Wood or Pulteney 12 would make a nice, light daily dram or if one felt more inclined to a peatier dram maybe Ardbeg 10 or Caol Ila 12 would fit the bill. Not that any of us are actually dramming daily , of course-wink, wink.

1st comment on main wall....a virtual Newbie! I was a bit concerned as to how often you guys have a dram. Daily sounds good to me! I started the daily with the Glenmorangie 10 original.....always rich and pleasant. Just tried the Highland Park 12, and seems perfect.....good price too. And, casting about, my friend supplied a 4 oz. flask of Famous Black Grouse, which I never had before. Maybe it's just me, but it left me a bit disappointed....magnificent price, but no finish at all. Not what I had in mind. (tonite I'm going to try a few drops of Lagavulin in the Black Grouse....see if that perks it up.) Perhaps I should try the Famous Grouse Blend.....might be better?

For easy-going drinking (ie. 1-2 shots maximum on a given evening), I tend to like either a strong sherry taste (GlenDronach 12yo or Yamazaki 12yo), or a marked malty taste (Glenfiddich 12yo or most Dallas Dhu's).

Well, unless you are over 90, it is best to have a couple of dry days each week, so that that the body doesn't start expecting a daily fix. I usually use small sample sips, and taste a number of different spirits, usually from one category, each time. Categories include scotch, bourbon, Canadian, Irish, brandy, rum and vodka. Then there are wine and ale days ...

The Bruichladdich Peat has been a stalwart of my evening wind-down for the past few years, though admittedly I drift towards other drams—like so many others here—depending on my mood; Aberlour A'bunadh, Bruichladdich 16 year-old bourbon cask, and Eagle Rare 10 year-old single barrel all make regular appearances in my glass. Finally, Té Bheag makes for an extremely affordable (and delicious) daily dram.

Just rediscovered the Strathisla 12 yo. Used to be the daily dram for several years amd now that I rediscovered it I can't really understand why I abandoned it in the first place. A really nice, well balanced dram suitable for all moods.

Auchentoshan 12 year old.
(I guess the title says it all. We all have our range of favs, but what is your fav daily dram? Whenever I come home from the office, I pour myself an Auchentoshan 12 year old. Not too heavy to start the evening with and a nice aperitif before joining the family at the dinner table. So what's yours?)
