Glenallachie (pronounced Glen-al-ACK-ee) was founded on 1967 in the heart of Speyside, at the foot of Ben Rinnes and next to Aberlour. Both whisky distilleries draw their water from springs in the mountains. Aberlour. It's owned by Chivas Bros and most of the 3 million litres produced each year is intended for blending. You can find some single malts but they are harder to find and often from Indies. All of the spirit is matured onsite in ex-bourbon casks .

This one is a 15yr (GA15 001) bottled at 58%. Really dark amber in the glass.

What a nose! Malty, fruity, honey, vanilla, leather, coffee and sherbet. Really interesting and powerful in the mouth. It starts off with bitter coffee and a tinge of acetone flowing into dark fruits, vanilla, orange, and vegetative notes. It is interesting and each time you go back you get something else. The finish offers espresso coffee and bitter chocolate.

This is a cask strength with character. It has complexity but lacks finesse. Definitely interesting but not one you would drink too much off in one go.
