Signatory has a series called Un-Chill Filtered, which leaves little to the imagination. And while the labels are utterly ugly (imho), the whisky is usually pretty good! This 14 Year Old Glenlivet was bottled for La Maison du Whisky in France and came from a first fill sherry butt.
The nose is very spicy and sweet, but what stands out mostly is raw mushrooms, parsley and some broth. Then the obligatory blueberries, plums and som fresh figs. Hints of caramel and saddlebags. A handful of nuts, mostly hazelnuts. A fresh touch from eucalyptus. I find it quite nice.
On the palate, it is spicy as well, but rather dry. Some blood oranges and berries, but also some aniseed. Cloves and cardamom. A lot of cardamom, in fact. Quinine? In the end, some liquorice.
The fruit gets a bit lost in the spices in the finish, but it is very tasty!
Lovely sherried Glenlivet that does not disappoint. Not even 60 EUR back in the day, which is quite good for a single cask.
