I cannot help it, but again we end up with Bert Bruyneel. This time we are trying a 32 Year Old Glenlivet from 1977 (the year in which Star Wars opened, by the way), bottled for his own label Asta Morris in 2010.
The nose is succulent and sweet on orchard fruit (apple, pear) with loads of cocoa butter. Hints of gingerbread. Hay as well. Hints of old leather. It goes hand in glove, though. Integrated is the word.
It remains fairly sweet on the palate, but also shows a bigger spiciness. Ginger and a bit of pepper, but mostly a nice helping of cinnamon. I am reminded of gingerbread again.
The finish, in which the apples are the most prominent, is rather short.
A nice cask selection by Crazy Bert. Although that does not surprise us anymore, seeing as he has been very consistent in his selections.
