WOW! I had Glenmorangie Signet last week and if that isn't the HOPE DIAMOND of Scotch whisky --- then I'm a monkey. I couldn't follow it up with anything other than the same, as they would be slightly cubic zirconium-like in comparison! AWESOME - You HAVE to try this if you haven't already!

(I could be off on the colour, the room I was sipping in was quite dark)

High praise, indeed! No tasting notes? Should I expect something similar to Sonnalta PX?

Sounds like one to give a try, eh? I have 8 Glenmorangies lined up for a future private tasting session. Shall add a sample of this one, as well, then.

@jwise It's nothing like Sonnalta. Totally different, which is not surprising since Signet is a mixture of ages and cask types while Sonnalta was young and had a very focused maturation. I fear BonnieMac evaluated a great evening in a dark room rather than the whisky alone ;-)

I'll post some tasting notes when I grab a bottle of my own - SOON, I think this is a NEED not a want!

@markjedi 1: Do tell of your Glenmorangie all-encompassing-tasting experience! Sounds like something epic :o)

I've tasted 7 different Glenmorangies, of which the old 12yr Port Wood Finish is my favorite. I still have an unopened bottle of the old 12yr Madeira Wood Finish, just waiting for the right time to open.

Very nice score, I also going to buy a bottle of great Glenmorangie's Signet in a couple of months, so as you see I'm quite a Glenmorangie fanatic, but still have thousand great whisky's to try out. It is a great hobby so....:-). Well thanks for your review and the great score you gave! You also must try the new Private Edition of Glenmorangie: Artein. I give it a 100/100!!

Have a wonderful weekend.

RE: tasting notes I am not sure if that is necessary - I definitely got the gist of her experience. The only thinks I want to know are smokey or not and sweet or dry. There are a few other insights that can be helpful but I am open to a completely new approach to describing the scotch experience (such as the Clynelish 14 I am now trying - the taste is AGGRESSIVE - you will know you have tied into some moderately sweet - and somewhat darker sweetness - scoth Very much worth the $50 I paid. I have willing paid $110 for scotch that I am not entirely sure is that much better. OTOH - hitting more of the top rung, my recent experience with the The MacCallen 15 Oak Finish - so glad they added to the sherry bombs (no better way to describe them...).
