If you have not yet heard of him: Marc Vandenberghe is the Belgian Brand Ambassador for Glenrothes. He selected this sherry cask for the Belgian market. I scored this sample from my whisky buddy Jan VC.

Loads of butterscotch and dark fruits in this very aromatic and creamy nose. Twig of mint. Hint of espresso. But it is the red fruit that takes the honors here. The whole is supported by a wonderful trace of woodsmoke. Some nuts. Roasted nuts, in fact. Quite lovely.

Creamy and round on the palate, but not scorching, which is something I was expecting with such a high ABV. That is good news, obviously. Candied red fruits, now. A wonderful marmalade of strawberry, raspberry and blackberries. A bit of pepper and cloves. Hint of espresso again. Sturdy fellow.

Wonderful, long and warm finish, in which the spices completely dry the mouth.

What a great, fruity, dark and spicy Glenrothes. Around 115 EUR. Recommended. Thanks, Jan!
