This Highland Park has been bottled for almost as long as it has spent in the cask. Bottled in the popular Old Malt Cask range of (then) Douglas Laing at the traditional 50%. I'm curious. Classic, pleasant HP nose on all kinds of white fruits and almonds, heather honey and Hobbister peat. Also a hint of freshly sawn boards and something floral. I immediately like this. The body is fine, nice and oily. Almost creamy, even. Again honey and white fruit, but the peat now provides a much more pronounced smokiness that immediately gives this malt weight and width, if you know what I mean. This is a very classic HP and we can only cheer for that. The finish is nice and long, a bit waxy (!) and softly smoky, but especially sweet. I'm a fan. Thanks, Pat! That was enjoyment.
