Highland Park 26 Year Old 1986 Amazing Casks MoS

We will end our little HP line-up with an amazing cask. Well, that is what the label says. This is the second Amazing Cask from Malts of Scotland (the first one was the Bowmore 1995, remember?). This Highland Park matured for 26 years and beads beautifully.

On the nose I get wonderful sweet fruit notes, almost tropical. Sherry cask, maybe? Turkish delight, apricots, mango, pomegranate. A touch of smoke that remains discreet. Slightly mineral, too, like wet stones. Some earth and wet grasses and the picture is perfect. Wonderful!

It is silky soft on the palate, though spicy. And again wonderfully sweet. Honey, beeswax, all kinds of fruit, both yellow and white. Some eucalyptus as well. Perfectly quaffable without water.

The finish is long, warm and sweet with a smoky finale.

This is the kind of whisky that makes me very, very happy. I hope, with the holidays coming up, that my family and friends read this carefully and get the hint. I would not mind finding this under the Christmas tree.
