A year after the release of the Crested Black Ball, Jameson ordered barrels again from the craft brewery Eight Degrees and then launched this Devil's Ladder, their blend finished in barrels of a typical Belgian Tripel style of beer. The result was bottled at 43%.

Great nose on candy sugar and cinnamon with a hint of chocolate and dried fruit. Think apricots and banana. Simply delicious nose, really.

The body is oily, round and rich. Vanilla, candy sugar, roasted nuts, caramel and a hint of dark beer (I know, tripel isn't dark, nae worries). Very creamy and sweet, but at the same time absolutely delicious.

The finish is round, spicy and sweet with another nice touch of the oak on the deathbed. And something of hops, which nicely confirms the link to the Belgian Tripel.

For sale for about 50 EUR. No brainer. What a beautiful whiskey. Thanks for the sample, Benny.

Nice to know: you can also order a 'Belgian style tripel' at Eight Degrees Brewing that matured in Jameson barrels. The circle is therefore complete.
