This is not the first time that the Irish producer Jameson has teamed up with Eight Degrees Brewing. They previously released the Black Ball and Devil's Ladder, but this one is special, because this time the whiskey was finished in Original Gravity Barleywine barrels. I have absolutely no idea what to imagine. So let's get a taste of it.

Aromatic and sweet nose, with a sour note. Think apricots, banana and pineapple, but also grapefruit and blood orange, supplemented with honey and vanilla. Something of rice cakes in the background. And a drop of egg roll sauce. Not too bad, without being exceptional.

Oily on the tongue. Again sweet and sour and a little dark, if you know what I mean. Raisins, plums opposite oranges and gooseberries. Fruity, that's for sure, but with spicy edges like... yes: egg roll sauce. Midpalate a sweet touch like from Haribo bears appears. Far from bad, but I'm not entirely convinced by it either.

The finish is medium-long and sweet with a small stimulus from the wood.

This one will probably do particularly well in bars, especially if you can put the barley wine of Eight Degrees next to it. A bit of an everyman's friend.
