Kilchoman 100% Islay Inaugural Release 2011

Warm Gentle smooth thick fruity arrival develops a long slow clean vegetable finish.

Had a taste of it at the distillery, didn't like it at all. I have a soft spot for the Machir Bay and adore the Loch Gorm. But this one just didn't feel right. My notes from August:

Nose: notes of citrus, biscuity malt, figs, brine and a fairly soft layer of smoke. Mouth: sharp on the palate, a body that is both creamy and briny: fruity notes of pears, some vanilla and wood polish Finish: medium long finish: peat, lime and elements of oak

@Pandemonium Thanks for your input. I am sorry your experience with this expression was not as well received as mine was. I really took a lot of time with this one and can only let my review stand for its self. Thanks again and continued success in your whisky journey. (:

Kilchoman, now releaseing youthful whisky, has just released this bottling, one that atteptms to embody everything Islay. A beautiful nose on this one. Pure salt, seaweed and curling tendrils of smoke. On the palat, more thumping creosote with a lovely creamy, oily backbone. Beautiful attack, but fades far too quickly on the finish. Still, if this is a taste of things to come, I am excited. A very pleasurable dram with which to relax by on a cold winter's afternoon.
