WTC went to the Ilsay festival this year, we blogged about it here

we managed to get bottles of all the festival bottlings. The Kilchoman Festival bottling is a five year old finished in a sherry cask for four months. This is Tony's review:
Nose: creamy with late pepper very peaty, quite chunky Taste: Earthy, early pepper that fades a bit. Finish: spice remains but the rest is not that long.
Overall: An honest, peaty whisky. The sherry is not too prominent and pretty well integrated. This is my favorite Kilchoman of those I've tried. In my opinion Kilchoman is improving with age, the early expressions had the “old” peat ammonia I dont like. That seems to have gone now. This has more pepper than earlier ones, which were closer to Bruichladdich peat than say an Ardbeg or Laphroaig. Its a bridge between Talisker and Islay says Pat. Thats a very long bridge.
You can taste any of the festival bottlings yourself with our Feis Ile tastring packs
