nose: a lot fresher than i expected limes, almond, stony, very faint mint, peat, medicinal palate: wow,the peaty and medicinal side comes into play imediately, big but not overpowering, wasnt expecting that going by the freshness of the nose, lovely suprise. finish: long, dry, peaty comment:the 10yo cask strength was my favourite laphroaig so far, this might just have edged into top spot.

How does this compare with other Islays (as in other than Laphroaig)?

i usually go for for young cask strength islays because of the sheer intensity and full on flavours you get with them, and enjoy them all.But if you are looking for something a bit different, something a bit less in your face but still keeping the clasic peaty, medicinal, notes then this ones worth a look at.

Try and find a bottle of the 21 year cask strength. The marriage of iodine, peat, and wood is brilliant. Quite good of a dram, with only another 1400 bottles avaioabke world wide.
