Legless and confused

When I'm finished with my Glencairn glass/TWE tasting glass I have gotten into the habit of cleaning it with water and then ensuring that it is dry using a clean dish cloth. You can imagine my surprise when pouring a dram and gently turning it to coat the sides of the glass that instead of beading and the trickling down the inside of the glass it rushes down uniformly leaving me quite legless!

How do I clean and polish my whisky glasses without this happening? What is going on?

Maybe you need a thicker whisky?

I wash my Glencairn with soap and rinse thoroughly before drying it with either cotton cloth or microfiber. No taste of soap, and legs enough legs for everybody! Perhaps you haven't gotten your glass clean enough?

@Phil73805: Try this...Rinse the empty glass with warm water, then add one or two drops of liquid soap, under the hot tap, which is running hot, overflow rinse the glass 'til the overflow runs clear, then air dry the hot glass; I use a stainless cake rack to air dry glasses. For a perfectly clean and odour free glass, rinse with spring water prior to use: I guarantee this will work! Avoid putting a washing cloth or sponge in your glasses, ever!

Cheers and Good Luck.

I also air dry my glasses rather than wiping them. Maybe you inadvertently coated them with some grease from the cloth.
