The Ultimate is a label from the Dutch bottler Van Wees. It is the only Linlithgow they ever bottled. I need not tell you that Linlithgow is the name used by many bottlers to indicate the closed Lowland distillery St Magdalene. Always something to look out for.

The nose is pretty fruity with a mild tropical side. Underneath again loads of wet leaves and some candle wax. Heather as well. Citrus peal. I could swear I get a hint of peat. Superb.

On the palate it is sweet as well, but with a sour touch in the mix. Most likely from the cask that was wine treated, whatever that means. Citrus again, but some grapefruit in cluded. Peach. And then suddenly it turns very herbal on all kinds of green garden herbs. Very creamy.

The finish is somewhat short, but displays a salty edge that is really becoming.

Knowing that St Magdalene was closed in 1983, we can describe this as liquid history. Just under 180 EUR.
