Brachadair is actually Gaelic for maltman or brewster, derived from the Latin brasiator. Just a little side note. Patrick and his Brachadair team bottled a great cask of Mortlach 1997 at a whopping 54,3%. It was distilled in June 1997 and bottled in July 2016, so a full 19 years old.

Wow, this is a dark Mortlach. Dark in the sense that it offers a nose of brown sugar, milk chocolate, nuts and praline, Arabica coffee, caramel… all very Moorish. Baked banana, coconut, marzipan… there is a lot going on here and it is all good.

Wonderful mouthfeel. Creamy to almost syrupy. Nicely spicy on ginger and pepper, followed by some cinnamon and saffron. Again all kinds of dark notes like caramel and brown sugar, espresso with whipped cream… nice continuation of the nose. It even has a green note like from garden herbs as sage and parsley, I kid you not. Damn, this is great!

The finish is medium long, spicy and warm.

This one certainly deserves the unofficial nickname of Mortlach: the Beast of Dufftown! 130 EUR for a bottle. Highly recommended.

"Moorish"? In lesser hands, I would assume that's a typo. With @markjedi1, I bet he's being clever!

This sounds right up my alley. What casks were used?
