It's already mid-morning on Christmas day here in NZ (yes, we win again). My well meaning folks gave me these "interesting" rock 'n roll whisky glasses. I'll give then a whirl later on. Sadly, no new bottles for me. So, what did you get?

Look at that sun... all we have is clouds and snow. Sun will set in 1-2 hours here, and I'll have to wait until tomorrow to see I have appeared naughty or nice to others.

@jsilevinac 7 bottles is definitely a good haul laughing - Did you choose them yourself or do you have family who know?

Secret Santa - with an upper limit. Someone who doesn't know Scotch too well but knows enough about me to not get me something ordinary.

Never tried an Adelphi bottling before and I'm really looking forward to trying it.

Also received some chocolates apparently designed to pair with this.

@Nozinan I haven't heard of it so I just checked it out - sounds interesting. It's sometimes good to get something you wouldn't normally choose yourself smiley

I've got that glenborrodale in my cabinet, @Nozinan, but haven't tried it yet. I think it sounds like a winner!

Whiskywise I got one bottle this year but my brother-in-law made it a good one. Springbank 12 CS. I'll come back with a photo for you to drool over.

Together with members of the KWC chapter of The Companions of the Quaich, we put together a little whisky sampler from heels and a couple new bottles for the 12 Days Of Christmas... (we weren’t quite organized to make it for an Advent calendar). Twelve x 1oz samples from Dec 25 to Jan 5, with an online calendar to reveal each whisky & distillery tasting notes the following day. Link to online calendar is here: tuerchen.com/a306042b Just finished Day 1 and trying to remember what it is! Have a good idea, but will have to wait until tomorrow to confirm. Merry Christmas... wishing peace, joy and good fellowship to all.

Note the two unlabelled bottles: the clear one is water sourced from Scotland, the other is Greek moonshine aged in wine casks.

@Hewie @ajjarrett - The large bottles were from a list I gave her; a list of about 40 or so. She doesn't drink whisky and has no clue what I've got in my closet. The small ones were stocking stuffers. And as far as the JW Red goes, I'd be okay if I never had that again.... I'm stoked about the OP12 as my current bottle of OP is almost done. My policy is to not open another bottle until one kicks (I already have about 25 open) so I'll finish that, it's now replaced ,and I can bust into something new.

Merry Christmas all! Can't post a pic just yet but had a good haul and hoping for perhaps one more to come . . .

The only down side is that my Te Bhaeg was pretty much polished off yesterday but I have some new and willing replacements relaxed

750ml bottle of Glenmorangie Original from a non whisky drinking niece, a variety of bitters from another niece, and 12 Glencairn glasses. A very Merry Christmas indeed.

Under the tree was a stylish, yet functional, leather-bound bottle case, high enough to house tall bottles such as William Larue Weller. I might think my son is not listening, but the boy certainly is paying attention. A well chosen gift from the young lad and his beautiful girlfriend.

An unfortunate accident claimed four of my Glencairn glasses Christmas Eve; yes they were empty. A thorough cleaning of the hardwood floor and twenty minutes later the tasting was resumed...my mom's floor has never been so clean ;) We were able to make-do with the surviving eight glasses and a few brandy snifters my mother had on hand. I received a considerable amount of ribbing because I alone was responsible for the glass breakage. On Christmas morning imagine the surprised look on my face when I removed the wrapping paper from a sturdy box, lined with protective foam, containing a glass pipette and four glencairn-style glasses. My wife didn't say a word. Well played Mrs. paddockjudge.

@Nozinan You ask "What's the thing in the middle?" It is a pouch of stones. The stones are meant to be cast at anyone trying to mix Alberta Premium 30 YO with ginger ale.

I'm back home after a few days away so it's my first chance to try out my "rock and roll" whisky glasses. I gave them a wash first - very nice fine glass. First impressions are that they are not unlike a brandy snifter. It is a little disconcerting to have your dram rolling around the table though! I remember seeing Ralfy talking about giving the whisky a "roll and stroll" around the glass - none of this swirling like a wine business!

The Whistlepig was from the wife, Deanston 18 from my mother and the WLW 2017 was technically not a gift as I bought it but arrived 3 days before Xmas.
