Wiser's Double Still Rye is another excellent product from Don Livermore and the team in Walkerville.

Gooderham and Worts 4 grain Canadian Whisky. It's OK, but @paddockjudge's version of Wiser's legacy is better.
I'll stick to my single bottle of it. Maybe it will grow on me...

Last night my wife held her birthday party (today is her actual birthday). It was a costume party . . . and totally not my cup of tee. But I love her and I tried my best. Thankfully, a good friend from high school was in town and stopped in. As the party wound down we “retied to my library” where I broke out the good stuff. He enjoys the punch to your face offensive type stuff (as do I).
We started off with
Sazerac 18yo 45% (90 Proof) Bottled Spring 2014. It was a light entry with a fantastic nose. We proceeded to:
Old Potrero 18th Century Style Whiskey 51.2% 102.4 Proof 10-RW-ARM-3-N
Old Forester Birthday Bourbon 12yo 50% 100 Proof 2015
Elijah Craig Barrel Proof 12yo 67.8% 135.6 Proof (9th Release)
Longrow 11yo Rundlets & Kilderkins 51.7%
Kilchoman Single Cask 3010/2007 sherry cask 57.4% (Nov. 14 2007 – May 24 2013)
Port Charlotte PC7 61% Sin An Doigh Ileach 7yo
He brought and shared:
Octomore 6.3 Islay Barley 5yo 64% (258ppm)
I was shocked at how similar the PC7 was with the Octomore were on the nose. But the finish was totally different. We sat up chatting till 3am. A great evening.

A friend flew in from th US to swear his oath of citizenship. We celebrated with the following:
First, an original batch Forty Creek Confederation Oak , to mark the occasion of his becoming Canadian.
Then, I had him try Forty Creek 3 grain Harmony, the newest special release.
Finally, we acknowledged his current home with his first (and only my second) taste of Old Granddad 114.

Tonight I asked my partner(not a whisky fan) to choose three bottles. So I Started off with a Glenfiddich 12yo, moved on to a Aberlour a'Bunadh batch 48 then to Lagavulin 16yo. Then went back to the a'Bunadh a few times

@Tom92
How is batch 48? It never made it to Ontario but Ralfy considered it a lesser batch. It will be a gap in my annual birthday opening of matching batches (in a couple years).

Kavalan ex-bourbon cask, Millstone 2008 CS PX cask, and Kilchoman Blueberry liquor

Yeah it was quite nice :) I missed a little rye kick so I decided to add a malty backbone. I have no problems using younger single malts for cocktails anymore, if it works it works :)

@PeatyZealot I meant bramble liquor offcourse. I didn't even know it existed :p

@Nozinan I'm enjoying it but as you've mentioned a fair few have ranked it low then other batches. I am biased though as I love anything Aberlour. Currently it is my only a'Bunadh but looking to get batch 45 which I have heard good things.

Longrow Peated .I never really understood the fuss over Longrow I thought it was OK but not a patch on Springbank itself. Now with the bottle half empty and opened for 6 or 7 months it's become quite fantastic , better than anything I imagined it could be. I'm going to enjoy the rest of this one.!

Daughters homework is starting to normalize so going to enjoy a nice dram of the GlenDronach 12 - a beautiful everyday whiskey

@JayRain
My daughter's homework PREVENTS me from having a dram. By the time she's done and in bed I'm too exhausted to drink...

@Nozinan Exactly - last couple of months have seen far less consumption as the time spent on homework has spiked significantly

Before dinner I poured myself a dram of Springbank 21 YO Claret Wood (to hell with the secondary market!). While I didn't get to drink it before, I was able to settle down with it after. y mother took a couple of sips and liked it. I'll have her converted over yet...
Now 10 cc to go as I return to writing up my new consultations for the day...

Jefferson's Reserve Very Old Very Small Batch Straight Bourbon Whiskey (Batch 177).
Very smooth yet flavoursome.

Cutty Sark Prohibition Edition. I am still liking this very much indeed. So much so, that I am a little concerned that the next batch may not be as good as this one is. 50% ABV is SO much more flavourful than 40%. I agree with you, Jim Murray: blended Scotch is not all rubbish...though he would never ever say it like that.

Last night for Halloween I sipped on some Jura Superstition. It was the most Halloween appropriate scotch (name wise) that I have open. Not everyone is a Jura fan, but I quite like the Superstition. Nice hint of peat and some sweet flavours to go along with it.

Glenfarclas 15 Cask Strength 58.6% abv aTWE exclusive. I've had this one open for 6 months now and like every Glenfarclas I've had it's got better and better. Absolutely no sulphur notes whatsoever and a lovely sherried sweetness all the way through it . This is Glenfarclas on steroids , perfectly flawless Christmas cake whisky and one of the best I've ever had.
