Though I can't say that even at the heavy tastings I've ever seen you to look even tipsy.

last night i had:
crown royal northern harvest rye (without a doubt, the best whisky i've had in a month)
two single cask macallan's head to head - 23y/o smws 24.126 and 14y/o 1989 lombard jewels of scotland. the lombard was the clear winner - both, thankfully, washed the crown out of my mouth.
three glen ord side by side (by side) - 25y/o smws 77.28, OB 25y/o, and OB 30y/o. all were lovely.
finished with a 1974 OB 21y/o bowmore - perfect way to end a wonderful evening.
i reckon the glen ord 30 was the best whisky i've had in 2015. i recently acquired a bottle in a swap for a 25y/o cadenhead small batch highland park - couldn't be more pleased....

forgot about the 1972 glenallachie (38y/o douglas laing OMC) - a stunner!

@thecyclingyogi Do I detect some irony in saying the Crown was "the best whisky I've had in a month"? :-P

Not sure why someone minused your list, unless they took great exception to you including the CR in with good whiskies in the same post...

@thecyclingyogi, I want to fall off the wagon with you next time. All of the good whisky on your list, excluding 2016 WWOTY, is old enough to drink itself in any jurisdiction. I'm trying to get rid of a bottle of Nikka Taketsuru 17, anytakers? :-J

Black Bottle (the new version, have never tried the older version)...while making pecan bacon shortbread cookies for our Islay tasting this coming Saturday (had to sample them, too...). Next to Islay Mist 8yr, it's probably one of my favourite blended Scotches.

@Nozinan, I do like Nikka-T17, I was just trolling...if at the end of the day there were no takers, I was going to take my bottle and forever....

Michter's Whiskey flight. At lunch today at Cochon Restaurant, during our last day of 5 in New Orleans, my sister, wife, and I had a flight containing:
Michter's U.S. No. 1 Bourbon
Michter's U.S. No. 1 "Sour Mash" Whiskey (undisclosed mashbill)
Michter's U.S. No. 1 Single Barrel Rye, Barrel Strength
I liked the Michter's bourbon the best of this particular flight. I've had Michter's bourbon before, maybe 5 or 6 times, and this iteration tasted different to me than any I had had previously. This one today had a lot of high-pitched sweetness, among other flavours. In this respect I considered it to have been a good bit analagous to a Van Winkle bourbon. It was refined and somewhat delicate in some respects while being fairly intense in others.
The "Sour Mash" Whiskey of undisclosed mashbill was OK, but I'd never buy a bottle of it. I think they have both wheat and rye in there, cancelling each other out, as those grains often do when combined. It was a good experience to have tasted it, but to my palate it was rather forgetable.
The Michter's Rye was nice but not particularly lush or rich, despite having been bottled at barrel strength. It had no serious shortcomings, but no strong charisma either.
My previous impressions of Michter's had not been too favourable, and this flight increased my opinion of the brand in general.

A dark wheat beer made with wheat and malted barley from anchor brewery in the US. Really big, creamy and good complexity for a beer. Very grand though, one bottle was plenty.

Aberlour A'bunadh, Batch # 26. A little bit of water is making this nose huge. Thick syrupy dark fruits on the palate. Admirably intense.

@Victor Thanks for the sample...I look forward to trying this batch. We'll have to open my batch 28 together sometime, maybe on YOUR birthday.

Aberlour 15 double cask 40% nice sherry cask not a completative dram but pleasant easy drinker after a good meal with wife and friends. I like the 10 and this has a little more depth at 32€ delivered for a litre it's a snip.

HAPPY CHANNUKA!
As is fitting for the holiday, I fried latkes for the family, and while I made enough for one night, I'm sure the smell of grease will permeate me for the full 8 days...
To cut through this, some Springbank Claret Wood CS, with the perfect balance of sweetness and brine to cut the grease and complement the residual latke essence.

You inspired me to have one of my last drams of Amrut peated CS (from my open bottle). It's good that you did. It reminded me of why this is one of my favourite all time single malts.
I will definitely endeavour to pick up another or 2 at the deflated (read now reasonable) price at LCBO.
