Amrut Portonova batch 1, first opened in 2011 or 2012, decanted into smaller glass bottles twice since. Currently residing in an old Kraken mini. Using the Ashok manoeuvre the nose is powerful and floral with a beautiful mouthfeel and flavour. It scores above the 88 I gave it 3 years ago!

I'm on an Amrut kick this week, and enjoying it immensely.

I too found the Michters rye to pale in comparison to the bourbon based on the US*1 variants of these that I tried.

Thoroughly enjoying Talisker 10 at a friend's house. I didn't like this one when first opened but time has made all the difference. No alcohol burn left, just plenty of pepper and fruit

Forty Creek three grain harmony. It is thankfully growing on me, given I have a few of them. This is my first go around with clear sinuses. I still get the mushroom essence but it's a little less pronounced, and seems to work together a bit better.

There was about half a dram left in a bottle of jack Daniels single barrel at my lake house. I've never had it before, so I decided to finish it off. Big mistake. Tastes like barrel aged rubbing alcohol.

@Victor I've never had a Michters that has tasted anything beyond generic. To me their entire line is over priced and plain to the point of unmemorable.

@Nozinan I have an unopened bottle of two contents. Not sure what occasion to save it for.

Do you mean Amrut 2 Continents? I heard that was good. I don't plan on pursuing it for personal reasons.

Also had some connemara peated, good stuff from Ireland. Underpowered compared to many islays but by itself its quite delicious.

@newreverie, I've never cared for Michter's myself. This most recent taste I had of the bourbon was a lot better than the others I've had before. I wouldn't mind owning a bottle of the one I just tasted, but the one I just tasted tasted a lot different from the 5 or 6 previous Michter's bourbons I've had. Ergo, I wouldn't be buying a bottle in any case, because I don't know what I'd be getting if I did...and I have enough bottles to last for 30 years already.

@Victor They just brought Michter's into Ontario - seemed overpriced to me, so I'd like to try it before I consider buying it.

Benromach 10yo (43%) Very nice dram. Depth of flavor, long finish, a bit of smoke. Really like this Speyside.

@quirkzoo Been thinking of trying the Dimple Pinch. I do remember mention of Cutty Sark prohibition edition hear abouts. Can't remember who mentioned it, but I bought a bottle($24) and have been enjoying it. A bit young tasting but with depth of character. One of my favorite blends so far and I'm looking for others to try. I've had JW Red, Black, and Double Black. Another that kind-of disappointed was Black Bottle which I'm told lost a lot of its appeal after a change in formulation. Always looking for my next blend. though. Its a requirement if you are on a budget. Cheers!

@Bilbo161 I was lucky enough to taste a Dimple bottled in the 1950s - incredible.

Whisky must be keeping you looking really young if you were old enough to drink in the 50s! And to remember what you tasted....Well done!

Lagavulin 12 2010, Kilchoman Machir Bay 2012, and White Horse blended Scotch. A friend dropped by and asked about Lagavulin. That led us to have some of the 12 yo and the White Horse (aka "Lagavulin Light"). I also used the occasion to finally open a bottle of Kilchoman Machir Bay 2012 I have had lying around here for a couple of years.

@sengjc what's that on the neck? Is it to stop dripping down the outside of the bottle after pouring?
