@Victor I've had some older B&W but not the more recent bottling. Haven't seen it at the LCBO.

@talexander, @Nozinan, hey, you boys are about to go to Spirit of Toronto tonight, right? I'll be there with you in spirit. @Paddockjudge is probably closing in on Toronto in his car right about now.

Well aerated bulleit rye. I'm not a big bourbon fan (not yet at least) but this was quite nice. A fresh nose and Palate

I think we should all plan to meet at a bourbon table, grab a glass of the same liquid and toast @Victor simultaneously...all other @Connosrs invited

@Nozinan @talexander, @whiskygoalie, @paddockjudge. This sounds like a great event and I hope all you gentlemen have the most wonderful evening.

@Alexsweden I also like Bulleit rye but I've found it a little young.I hadn't tried it for many months but recently I went back to my nearly empty bottle and was surprised how it had evolved. With a lot of air in the bottle my rye had become great. The only downside is that I only have 3 or 4 drams left!

@Dramlette and I are toasting our Canadian friends at Spirit of Toronto, with W.L. Weller 12 yo and Ancient Ancient Age 10 yo, while we listen to My Old Kentucky Home, just prior to the running of the Kentucky Derby. Cheers, friends, and thank you all very much for your friendship and for your kind wishes!

Drinking a toast to everyone at SOT and of course @Victor with my last 2 drams of Balvenie 15 Sherry Cask SB (this bottle anyway) and Bowmore 15 Laimrig.

Any tasting notes on J P Wiser's Last Barrels would be appreciated.

Cheers to all

I am also toasting to my friends at Sot with a glass of Springbank 12 yo CS. I hope to meet most of you in a few weeks.

@Robert99 Yikes, just poured a dram of Springbank 12 CS as well for a nightcap. Delicious!

Springbank 12 CS....mmmmmmmmmm. One of the drams NOT available at SOT.

We had fun, but aside from a few gems it wasn't as good as 2014.

Longrow red port cask. Definitely one of my favorites. Faintly bonfire smoky with tart berries and real good depth

Just cracked a Michel Couvreur Overaged. It's pretty stunning. Single malt of unspecified origin.

@MuddyFunster Is it in fact aged too long?

@Nozinan I'm not really sure what the definition of this whisky is, but it's beautiful. Thick heavy and oily. These Michel Couvreur whiskies are a revelation. He (when he was alive) claimed that 90% of a whisky's flavour is the barrel. Not sure about this, but his stuff is amazing. Sourced in Scotland and then barrelled in France in very carefully sourced barrels.

Writing a few dozen exam questions....not for the faint of heart. Starting out with a very wee dram of The Peat Monster (Compass Box) 10th anniversary Cask strength PALS exclusive bottling. A big THANK YOU to @Talexander for the sample.

From here, I think the only way to go is Ardbeg Uigeadail.... Anything else I had would be completely overwhelmed by the peat in this Monster!

I am bracing for the storm. @Nock is currently driving up to my house for the weekend. The list of stuff he is bringing up has me worried. Sure, historically we usually taste 25+ beverages on one of these Friday night tastings. Today this seems like a lot...portion control will be essential. On this visit @Nock will also for the first time taste at my sister Mary Anne's house tomorrow afternoon as well.

J.P. Wiser's 14 YO Last Barrels 45% abv. sour mash, bourbon barrels, 80% corn, 11% rye, 9% barley. This is one very dusty dram! Sweet, silky, spicy, and hot. Bourbon nose, thick and nutty mid-palate, staccato finish, like a red hot gun barrel. This is a fun whisky!

@Victor, I was wondering about @Nock, he has been quiet of late. Obviously there is no cause for concern.

I was up till 2 writing exam questions. Then I was up early to get the kids ready for school. This evening I collapsed (in a non-medically concerning manner) on my mother's couch after dinner. An hour or so later, my wife forced me to get up so we could go home. Now, full of energy, but tired, I'm writing my last clinic note. I felt the need for something vanilla, brown sugar, cinnamon.... and the answer was right before me. For some reason, out of its usual place in my cabinet, right at the front, stood my Old Grand dad 114. And into the glass (some of) it went. It's great when you are sure you have the perfect dram for your mood.

Some bourbons really open up after a while in the glass. This one starts out fantastic. I may not be able to give it enough time in the glass.

I bought this online for $20, but thanks to @Victor for even putting it on my radar...
