I started out as a wine buff and a craft beer nut. Bit of a late starter on whisky. Started with me buying rare single cask Scotch to taste with my Japanese father-in-law. He opened my eyes with an expensive Nikka blend and I understood that whisky could have balance and harmony. I couldn't afford what he was drinking so I tried a Hibiki 17 and a Yamazaki 18 in the Park Hyatt Tokyo bar and the rest is history. Japanese whisky got me into Scotch and then when a friend introduced me to Van Winkle Family Reserve Rye, the world of bourbon opened up to me. Cheers! Kampai! Slainte!
