@Victor When I actually get old, as you say, I hope my children and grandchildren will assure me that I'm still young.
I don't know about whether I'll be able to drink whisky by then, but it's interesting that you use the term afflictions, as this is passover and Matzah, made of wheat and water only, is also known as the "bread of affliction". Add some yeast outside the holiday and you get wheat spirit. But I think I would prefer malted barley or bourbon.

I have tasted Kilkerran 12 yo and it is a nice whisky I am impressie, but I am not over the moon. It tastes like lemon , vanilla, salty caramel and it is a little creamy It has a peppery finish I would give it 86 points If I would have written a review

Talisker 57 Degrees North. All this talk with @casualtorture's recent review. I wanted to have some 57 N at my sister's house last weekend when I gave a tasting there to a few new people. Turned out they were the most peat averse of any group I have ever encountered. They would not try it. Tastes good to me now, and this bottle has a great nose. @casualtorture, I would not be surprised to see whatever that is that is putting you off on the nose of your bottle just blow off if you give it some time. Looks like at the rate you and your group drink the stuff that might require two or three more bottles to work with to get the chance.

wow @Nozinan that is high. come back to China. about $50USD a bottle. @Victor my girlfriend loves the stuff. i'll appease them with the 10yo and make everyone wait for the 57N. then edit my review after another week or so to see if time has helped the nose.

@casualtorture I would take you up on that but the total cost per bottle might go up if you factor in the flight...

@Nozinan hey come to Henan and i'll get you free room and board while you're here

Port Charlotte PC12. Liked it really much - especially with a little water. Will buy it again If can find it at a reasonable price.

@casualtorture, wine-searcher.com gives average Talisker 57 North price in China at $ 49, in UK at $ 73, in Canada (USD) $ 121, no price listed for the USA, and $ 66 worldwide. Know what you have in front of you and know that that price or the supply of inventory can easily be gone tomorrow.
Of course, if I encountered a Chlorox bleach nose as you have described, I might hesitate too. Even another bottle or two just for the girl friend would make sense. Having a happy girl friend is a good thing.

@casualtorture Last time I got "free" room and board (well, just room) in China, my family and I were placed in a nursing home with beds as hard as boards, and I had to take a tour of three facilities and give talks at 2 different hospitals. But that was in Shehezi, Xinjiang province. In return I got to try some tasty Baijiao, and Cognac-style grape spirit right from the barrel.
The closest I've been to Henan is Suzhou, but that was before I even owned a bottle of whisky...

Good Friday, good friend, good whiskey - Booker's 2015-01, Ardbeg Corry, Glendronach Cask Strength and Casa Dragones Sipping Tequila. Despite being a predominant single malt crowd, it was the Dragones and the Bookers that were most appreciated

@Nozinan The beds here are all pretty hard. We had to find a Western style mattress. The farthest west i have been is Xi'an.

Enjoyed a healthy dram of Weller 12yo from 3/4 full bottle that has been open for 2 years. I have not been a fan since my past experience with Weller 12yo has been as a very smooth but simple, lightly flavored bourbon. But my oh my, the past two tears of air has made a noticeable difference for the better. Favor much richer while still very smooth.

Just popped the cork on a Glenfarclas 15. Review late this week perhaps. Love the nose on this.

Shared some Benromach 10 with a few family members yesterday afternoon. Loved this, especially at the $60 CDN pricepoint here in Ontario.

@nooch ardbeg 10 over $100? where are you? I remember last year buying it for $50 in Alabama.

@casualtorture , "LCBO" means that @nooch is in Canada. Prices suck there.
In the States, Ardbeg Ten is still to be had for $50 or less, depending on the state (and if you know where to look!). $55 seems about typical and still a fine, fine value in my book.

@Ol_Jas ah, good to know. $100 though, Ardbeg Corrys and Oogies are less than that.

Finishing up some work before going to bed. A small splash of Lagavulin 8. 1/3 of a bottle left and I'll be sorry to see it go.

@Ol_Jas $100 is not unexpected compared to some other in-class stuff. Though something like Tempest is 2 years older and $10 cheaper and comes at CS.
But even if it were Lag 12 CS at $100, $100 is still $100 and with this year's expenses not much remains for whisky.
Plus, if I stock up on everything I like I'll have enough to last 3 lifetimes.

Anyone try Kilkerran 12? I've heard great things. Not available in Ontario, but it's available in Calgary so it could be had.

@Nozinan you say that like it's a bad thing. I have enough bottles to last god knows how long. In truth, there are lots that I would buy tasters of like those sold at master of malt if I could get my hands on them. It would ensure I only bought what I loved, that I didn't get bottles I later regretted, and that I got to try a wider range of things from low to high end. Too bad, so sad.

@nooch When I started I bought with the intention of "opening later' but I've never been able to catch up. I found my palate developed and there are bottles I would never get to. I've found good homes for many of them.
I agree having a small volume to try would be good. I did get a sample of Arran 12 CS, same batch as the one in Ontario, and it was useful to decide not to buy it.
If I had unlimited room and unlimited money I would but lots of everything I liked and would be a happy to share (or leave to others) what I couldn't get to. But I have other priorities in life (GASP!), and can't justify stocking up on every expression I like.
Lag 8 is really good but I'll get over it once the bottle is gone.
