Having a pour of Centennial, an in my view underrated wheat and rye sipper that's quite lovely. Watching some Bojack Horseman, it's such a weird and bizarre and hilarious show.

@JayRain I have played Twilight Struggle, but only once. I enjoyed it and wouldn't mind playing it again. However, my wife is overwhelmingly my most frequent gaming partner and she didn't really like it, so we never ended up getting it.

A limited edition Glenrothes bottled for Australia from Cask #5579 - this be a 2003 vintage that has been bottled at cask strength in 2016.

Excellent clean sherried malt.

Sitting down to watch Diner, which I've never seen despite it being such a classic.

Keeping me company is a pour of Bulleit Bourbon. I only had this for the first time last week, but I'm liking it already. Since it has such a high rye mashbill I've long suspected I'd be a fan, but it's nice to finally confirm it.

Watching the second half of the Jays game and cheering them on with a dram of Wiser's Union 52. Have to try it a couple of times before doing my review.

I like it. It seems to have a few layers. I wonder, and this was not my original idea, if the 4% of this that is Scotch was matured in a cask that used to contain a grape-based beverage.

Glenmorangies The Tayne and Signet. The sulphur-blind will mostly like The Tayne from Travel Retail. Signet is in its own little interesting world.

Having a pour of Bulleit bourbon and am about to hit play on Out of Sight. I've been reaching for Bulleit a lot lately. This is my first bottle, but I foresee it becoming a staple of my cabinet.

I have to repair my cabinet (the weight of the bottles) and to do so I have to haul out all the open and sealed bottles within. It's amazing how much you can put into a repurposed children's armoire...

So I came aacross my half full bottle of A'Bunadh 47, an excellent batch, and realized I hadn't put away a 2 oz archive sample yet. Since I was opening it anyway...

Enjoying a healthy dram of this wonderful Glenfarclas 15. How I wish this was a bottomless bottle.

Four Roses Single Barrel. I went to the liquor store with the intent of buying some Canadian whisky (Lot 40 or Wiser's Legacy) and I ended up with a bottle of bourbon. Full disclosure: I was a bourbon guy before I got into single malt scotch. As to my purchase: I regret nothing. smiley

@OdysseusUnbound As well you should regret nothing. For Roses Single Barrel is generally a fantastic bourbon. It being a single barrel it's hard to say definitively that it's always great, but at least I've never had or heard of a bad one. Oh, and since you're planning on checking out ryes a bit more, it's a fitting choice since it's OBSV and therefore one of their high-rye releases.

@Nelom That makes sense. I've only had two (rather generous) glasses so far, so I can't do a full review at this point, but there is a peppery, menthol-like quality in the nose and on the finish. I'm assuming that's the rye coming through. I'm very impressed so far. But then, I've never had a really bad bourbon. Even the "cheap" stuff I've had has been decent. This FRSB is powerful and punchy enough that it wouldn't get lost in a Mint Julep, which is good because summer is upon us.

About to press play on The Twelve Tasks of Asterix, a childhood favourite I probably haven't watched in 25 years. On the table next to me is tonight's second pour of Wiser's Dissertation. This is a beautiful whisky, and I'll for sure stock up on at least another two bottles before it's gone. PhD well earned, Dr. Livermore! +1

Sunday afternoon and I'll probably have a dram of each out of half my cabinet. Starting with the lovely Talisker 10, then I'll have a 57North, Laga 16, take a break from the peat for a bit. Later tonight a Glenmorangie 10yo and finish the night off with a Glenfarclas 15. Ahh Sunday.

@casualtorture sounds like you've go the rest of your day all mapped out. A nice way to wind down the weekend. I've got some friends who claim they don't like to drink whisky by themselves - that it's a social thing for them. I, however, love to relax with a dram or two and my own company. Enjoy.

@Hewie I'm perfectly fine alone with my own thoughts for a while. Either a military documentary or a strategy game is a great compliment to the afternoon drams.

A friend of mine inherited a whisky collection from his late father in law. Some 30 or so bottles. We sampled these 2 last night. The Arran 14 year old was my favourite. Might have to invest in bottle myself. Not sure how long they had been standing opened though. I'm thinking quite a few years. Both drams we had from these bottles to me tasted a little past their best. Which is a shame as there were some interesting bottles in the collection!

Moral of the story.. enjoy your whisky now!

Curious as to people's thoughts. I've read that redbreast 12yo Cask strength is fantastic. I've had the regular 12yo and came away largely unimpressed. Is the CS that much better?

Having another pour, this time a double, of Dissertation while settling in to watch Cloud Atlas. At nearly three hours long I suspect I might go back for yet another glass before the evening's over. It is after all World Whisky Day. wink And a long weekend here in Canada.

@nooch Redbreast 12 yo CS is great if you like the regular 12. Don't expect something different, it is very similar to the regular. If you don't have time to let it breath, I would say it will not be better than the regular and even less complex, but with air and time it will become a magnified version of the regular 12.

At my uncle's on Friday night. Had to choose between Dalwhinie 15, Glenmorangie Lasanta, and Balvenie 14 YO Caribbean cask. I decided to follow my uncle and go with the Balvenie, but then I added some Lasanta to the glass, to sherry it up a bit.

Sipping on some Evan Williams BiB (aka White Label.) I picked it for entirely practical reasons, the bottle is almost empty and I'm moving in just over a month so I figured I'd make an effort to reduce the number of bottles I have to move. smirk

When I first opened this bottle I liked it a lot more than I do now. It's not a bad bourbon by any stretch, I just don't find it as delicious as I used to. Not sure if it's just my current mood and palate, or if it's air that's caused it. There's still one more pour left, so maybe I'll have my answer later.
