Aultmore 14 year (Sep. 2001) SMWS 73.78 "Zingy, effervescent and intriguing" from a refill ex-sherry butt.
Finished with Octomore 07.1 (5 year old) 208 ppm Scottish Barley.

A Kenmore 5 year old blend whilst watching the Shining (and cooking dinner). Part of a set of mini's from M&S.
A little peat, grain, touch of light honey and some sweet barley malt notes. It's not bad actually and it's very cheap to buy, even seen it at the corner shop for about £20.

Cleaning up a bit this afternoon and came across a small sample bottlle of a blend I made using whistlepig single barrel and A'bunadh about 9 parts to 1.
Decided to take a little sip to see how it's coming along. It's still a bit unbalanced on the palate but I'm really digging the rye/sherry combo. I would really like to see something like this being offered.

@Nozinan you killed him with your high proof juice..some folks just can't handle all that cask strength goodness.

My wife’s uncle had a party for his granddaughter and made sure I tried some scotch from his bar. He doesn’t drink it at all, but I obliged nonetheless. On the menu was:

Doing the dishes before going out to meet a friend, I figure this is a good time as any to sneak in a quick dram.
Benromach first fill bourbon 2009-2017, 59.4% abv in the trusty Highland glass.
I've only had a few drams of this and I've gassed it in between pours. Powerful arrival, rich, grassy, linseed oil, stuffy diesel engine smoke. The finish is both sweet and slightly resinous. I like it. You can see some of the DNA of the 10yr old but it's a bit unruly.

@OdysseusUnbound I really need to get some Lambertus to you, if you want to know BAD whisky.
@cricklewood, that Highland glass is quite impressive, no?

@Nozinan I'll take a sample of Lambertus, it's good to have a benchmark. Even if it's for the low end of the scale...
Yeah I'm really digging thhe Highland glass I haven't tried any high proof bourbon in it thus far, have you?

Watching March Madness and enjoying a dram or two of Belle Meade Black Belle. Truly one of the better bourbons I've had. Salty meat and rich chocolate cake explosion! Still kicking myself for not getting more at the distillery when I had the chance. Found 4 bottles on the secondary market for $250 each...nope.

@cricklewood Be careful what you wish for...especially if you're coming to Toronto...
I've had a number of high proof scotches in that glass, and some low proof scotches. But I admit I don't think I've put bourbon in. I really like the Kentucky Bourbon Glass for bourbons, and I fully admit it could be psychological, but it just seems to really fit.

Having a bit of Dillon's single cask, cask strength 100% rye while watching the Junos. It's a tasty treat, I'm glad I got two bottles, this one is almost gone. The show is ok... just waiting around for BNL to take the stage.

Sipping on Union 52, a British Columbia only release from J.P. Wiser's Collector's Series. 15 YO Red Letter blended with 52 YO Speyside Malt. Enjoyed this while I watched the Juno Awards from Vancouver, BC. A great show and much more enjoyable than the Grammy's.

Last night, Kilchoman Sauternes Cask Matured
Tonight, killed off my bottle of Tobermory 10 year (July 2005) heavily peated Cask #10 from Single Cask Nation. Really going to miss this one. Fortunately, my mother-in-law keeps her bottle at my place. :-)

Is it International Whisk(e)y day today? If so I'll have a dram of my Berry's 25 year old blend. If not, I'll have one anyway.

Compass Box Oak Cross. I'm having it along with some salty pretzels, I think it enhances the flavour.

Had a small dram of Talisker 10 while prepping supper and after dinner got another crack at my friends Benromach peated as a digestif. The intensity of the peat has calmed down, it still retains a great mineral and slightly fruity flavour in the backdrop. I'm getting a sample for review next time I'm over.

Brenromach 10 tonight. Haven't cracked this one in awhile. Great stuff. I see it is also back at the LCBO.

'Twas the night before Passover... my daughter sealed my cabinet for me.
But not before I got the last of my Laphroaig sample and a reference dram of QC.
That's the last whisky I'll have (unless I am offered some outside my home) until at least April 8.
Now overproof rum...that's another matter altogether...

I just did some mixing experiment for fun: Jameson 80% + Uigeadail 20%. Pretty good result!

@Webb, any simple tweak which greatly improves on a cheap product is a very successful experiment. Take a look at a (my) long-running thread on vatting/blending experiments:

@Nozinan, Lemon Hart 151 for Passover? Now that is what I call religious!

Glenfarclas 12 - A lot more upfront with the sweet sherry notes than I remember the last bottle being. Still, only been opened a day and this is my first full dram so will give it time. Still very pleasant to sip at though.
