Wild Turkey 101 Rye and it is, quite simply, scrumptious! My local large outlet has plenty, so I may have to grab some while there are some to grab. They tell me that it has never sold well, I can't understand why not; it has a nose to die for and all the other good bits in abundance incl. a gorgeous silky mouth feel that glides into the longest finish that fairly drips delicious sugar-cane sweetness. Good Stuff!

Last night was pretty epic, starting with the Willett "Iron Fist," which was really awesome. Naturally, after taking about half of it neat, I killed it by badly pouring a bit (too much) of water into it. I then went to the 2011 Port Ellen release (32 years), which easily stole the show.

@talexander - don't wait too long to pick up the Century 21. Typical cowboy whisky - well aged and fifty bucks....bless those cowboys!

With @CanadianNinja egging me on, I am doing a tasting of my very first Connosr review whiskey, Old Grand-Dad 114. Just hilarious! HUGE flavours, losing a bit of finesse into the finish. Great bourbon...I do wish that all the world could buy this stuff for the $ 23 I pay for 750 ml of it. Where the hell do you go for a whiskey that is at 57% ABV and costs $ 23? Maryland, and probably a few other states...

@Victor, well fortunately this 0,75 l of pure kick-ass fun can be had for as little as € 20,79 in Vienna which makes this into the top 5 of my bang for the buck list; this is entertaining stuff!

@Victor I agree on the OGD 114, great bang for the buck. I got mine for 18.99 at my local. While we are on bargin bourbons what does everyone think about Very Old Barton 100 proof. I heard good things and at 13.99 it is hard to pass up.

@Cardinal, I like your saving of a couple of $ for OGD 114. As for Very Old Barton 100 proof, I want to try, but haven't had. Try @JeffC...he will give you an unvarnished opinion.

Nikka Pure Malt Black (a small sample provided by a fellow whisky blogger) - interesting, but not as complex as the Taketsuru 12. The peat sort of overpowers the lighter, more complex scents and flavours that are there.

Glenmorangie Astar followed by Flaming Heart 4th Edition. Both lovely in different ways.

@Victor Old Pulteney 17...one of my favorites. What a nice gift from a good friend obviously. Enjoy! I'll have to get my OP 17 out soon. I'm down to 1/2 a bottle and was trying to slow down on it...cuz it's that good. Can't stand the thought of not having any:)

Giving the Ardbeg Uigeadail another go...Bottle is about half empty; have had it now for a few weeks; it seems to be opening up alot more, and the sweetness from the sherry cask is more noticeable now than it was when 1st opened.

An Old Pulteney night. Bought my first bottle of 12YO, so enjoying that with a pour of 17, 21, and a bit of Gordon Macphail 1974 34YO. It was a very good day :)

Bruichladdich Islay Barley 2006. Enjoying the viscosity and mouthfeel of this one very much indeed. For a young whisky it's really rather lovely.

While watching and then celebrating the London Knights winning the Ontario Hockey League (junior hockey) title, some Alberta Premium followed by Lot 40.
Lot 40 is a MUST try for any rye fan! The rye notes are soooo prominent, it is like sniffing/drinking a slice of lightly buttered rye toast. Just awesome stuff. I will definitely be getting a 2nd bottle before the current allocation is gone from the LCBO. Amazing value at only $40.
