@talexander, the Benriach 18 is, I believe, a sample of a whisky which you and I both sampled at our Russian friend's house on St. Patrick's Day. The Black Bull 40 is the sample you gave me from your bottle that day. The Macallan 36 yo is a sample given to me by @maltster, and conveyed by @Pudge72 through you to me. Mary Anne gave me the bottle of Parkers Heritage 6th Edition Four Grain Bourbon as a birthday present. I was very concerned that I would not like the wheat and rye together in it...but it is very fine indeed. The Blanton's, my first bottle of it, was a gift from Dramlette's brother. I will post reviews of all five.

I just returned from four days in Kentucky picking barrels for purchase with a bourbon group. This year the theme was malt whisky (even though we're buying bourbon) and everyone brought a bottle to pass while socializing in the evenings. I had some great pours that included:

1980's vintage Balvenie 12 yr Classic 1980's vintage Springbank 25 yr Signatory Laphroaig 12 year cask Signatory Laphroaig 13 year cask Ardbeg Day Ardbeg Uigeadail Lagavulin 16 yr Oban 14 yr Talisker 10 yr Glenhaven 17 yr Highland Park 18 Arran Cask NAS

I'm sure there were more but the memory is a little fuzzy at this point.

UIGEADAIL - a very generous pour to celebrate the sixtieth anniversary of our Maryland Gentleman - damn good reason to open this bottle.

Nothing right now, but over the previous week I shared drams and conversation with a couple of other whisky bloggers and/or family members in New Brunswick - Bowmore Tempest Batch 1 (Fredericton: Lunar Rogue Pub), Glen Breton Rare (Lower Millstream), and Aberlour 16 (Saint John: Britt's Pub).

Say @YakLord, did you ever buy any of that $ 200 New Brunswick Highland Park 25? That would be a tempter for me...if I were located a little closer to it.

@Victor - yes, I did pick up a bottle of the HP 25, complete with beautiful oak case, while I was down there. It is the newer 45.7% ABV release, as opposed to the older 48.1% ABV, but regardless of ABV, it is an HP 25, and at $150 less than what they charge in Ontario, I wasn't going to pass it up. I also received a bottle of Glenfarclas 17 (not available in Ontario) from a fellow blogger in exchange for bringing out a bottle of Green Spot (not available in New Brunswick).

@FMichael I had the Ardbeg Uig just this last weekend and loved it. So much so, I ordered two bottles for the bunker.

@Bourbondork Here's the deal...I heard so many great things about this whisky that I had such high expectations...Not sure if it's me, or the whisky, but it's taking some time to find the flavours...It's posing a significant challenge.

Another hefty dram of the Ardbeg Uigeadail...Really wanting to give this whisky a chance...For whatever reason - it seems more flavourful than my previous tastings.

Dealing with a major toothache, but 1) a half-dram of Four Rosese SB and 2) Clynelish 14. After some time and air, the Clynelish 14 is really wonderful.

Had to have a dram when an old friend brought me a birthday bottle of Old Pulteney 17 today. Delicious. And that called for additional celebratory drams of Octomore Orpheus.
