This Talisker was bottled especially for the Friends of the Classic Malts and contains a 12 Year Old (as opposed to the traditional 10 Year Old, I suppose). It is a celebration of 10 years Friends.

Somewhat weird nose that goes up and down like a yoyo between the typical maritime elements on the one hand and all kinds of fruits that you would associate with a sherry cask on the other. It is searching, to no avail, for a balance between the peat and salt here and the mild raisins and double baked bread crust there. Something floral even. The maritime elements eventually win out.

Nicely oily, but immediately very floral. Damit, this is very close to soapy! Some roasted nuts emerge, sprinkled with honey, but Midpalate the peat and salt take the tastebuds hostage (words carefully chosen).

The medium long finish, still on the floral side, ends in a brackish note on black pepper.

The first Talisker that I really did not like very much, because of the soapy palate.
