Shouldn’t that be in a different thread? Such as “what were you paying” or “what did you pay?”

With 7 bottles available in a province of 14 million, I would suggest this is effectively sold out. And I suspect it is not coming back.

If you’re in Alberta, though, you can pick this up for as low as $53 plus 5% tax and 10 cent bottle deposit.

This is available for those in Ontario, Canada. It is reduced from the original $200.00 price tag by 50%. The variety of distilleries listed on the back of the box would be good for those who are interested in exploring hard to find whiskies from Scotland. The price is at $99.95 and the volume equals a decent bottle of single malt.

$18.10 for two 23 YO Cask Strength, a whisky calendar, and a pair of Australian Cab Sav.

I returned some merchandise to the government store. I rec’d a gift card. Merchandise on the shelves calls out to you differently when you’re holding a loaded gift card. Johnnie Blue was tempting at $310, Rhetoric 25 YO was a bargain at $206, but I had my eye on a pair of Wiser’s 23 YO CS. @fiddich1980 ‘s alert for the bargain priced calendar at $100 could not be ignored. I had a couple of bucks remaining on the card and was tempted by Wolf Blass Cab Sav, purely for the art work on the label.

A day well spent sorting through my bunker horde and eliminating seven bottles that lingered and were unlikely to be touched any time soon, Well worth the effort.

@fiddich1980 not a bad price. You are making it very difficult for me to fight FOMO.

@Nozinan Unfortunately or fortunately, it is a bottle which will require rapid intervention to obtain when it does show up. When it does show up, I expect it to be shelf cleared within 24 hours. In the words of another Connosr member - "a knife fight".

@fiddich1980 I predict zero available online and plenty at Queen’s Quay and Summerhill, which they’ll refuse to transfer to other stores. rage

@OdysseusUnbound This should be available online. Dime a dozen in the US, just will not be 200 bottles available. Also odd that it shows as a 700 ml bottle, the same as those that ended up out west.

I bought Eleven Souls at Summerhill for $80.00, this Sunday. As I wonder, "What am I really paying"? Canadian Rockies 21 was also on Sale for $80.00.

@paddockjudge In Ontario. It is a standard price in Alberta

@Nozinan, I totally get your point on Alberta prices.

The logistical nightmare one must endure to legally acquire spirits from Alberta is nearly enough to make one pay Ontario prices.

Nearly. But when one has accumulated a buffer it’s ok to play the long game. As we are currently seeing now with a backlog of bottles.

Better to pay

The Old Grandad line just went up here in Tennessee. The 114 went from 24.99 to 32.99 and the BiB went from 19.99 to 24.99. Sad day indeed.

For those interested and residing in Ontario, Canada:

The provincial liquor control board has put the Deagio 2019 Special release for purchase on line. The closing date for on line purchase is March 12, 2020. I find it odd, from on line commentary, that many of these products will not be available in the United States.

@fiddich1980 Maybe any leftovers will get put on the shelf. Cannot see all those Laga 12's gone by the 12th. The Talisker 15's will most likely be gone by the weekend.

It just so happens I received some vouchers over the past few months and just yesterday I combined them into a virtual visa that will just cover 1 Tali or 1 Lag.

The only way I would ever get bottles so expensive is by trading in or using a certificate/ voucher.

I had a hard time deciding which but I reviewed @talexander's EPIC tasting notes and chose the Talisker - coming soon to a store near me.

Now, if the Lag makes it into stores, I can try to find some stuff to trade in for it. I have a KCSB bourbon, now I just need to find some bottles of wine that people have gifted us...
