To start off. Has anyone seen the 2012 Ken Loach film 'the Angels' share'?
For those who don't know Loach is a keen socialist and all his films tend to be about society's underclass and those whom capitalism have left behind. But as the title suggests whiskt features heavily in the film including a visit to Deanstown distillery, a tasting where IIRC correctly Cragganmore and Lagavulin get a mention. A bottle of Springbank gets a mention too.
The rare whisky the main characters are trying to pilfer in the film is I believe made up.
Definitely a film worth checking out for whisky fans.

@Wierdo - I like what I've seen from KL - my Mum is a big fan as well.
I started watching Angel's Share not long after my lad was born but couldn't hack it - I felt too much for the Dad in the story and the grittiness wasn't quite what I was after. Will have to finish it off at some point.

@RianC you're right about the grittiness of the film. I'm completely ignorant about the director but that makes complete sense now. I loved the movie for both it's commentary on life and the whisky connection. Well worth returning to.

I like Ken Loach's films. Been meaning to watch this for ages. Thanks for the reminder.

Thought it might be interesting to have a thread about our favourite beverage in the media. Where we can discuss both whisky themed films, TV shows, books, magazines and also times when a bottle of the good stuff has made a cameo appearance in a non whisky themed TV show etc.
