@paddockjudge - I am hoping to go, especially as I have a pre-ordered bottle of Port Wood waiting for me - but I work in the film industry and that is the final weekend of TIFF. I think I can eke out the time but I'll have to play it by ear and at the last minute!

@talexander Have you tried the Port Wood previously…am thinking of picking up a bottle?

@RoganFox - No, I have not - looking forward to it. Especially as the bottle number matches the date of my daughter's birthday!

@talexander Perhaps a visit to Savour Stratford Perth County Culinary Festival might be more apropos. I missed the Globe & Mail affair and hope to catch both of these. Davin de Kergommeaux will be hosting at Stratford. Nice touch on the numbered bottle selection. Cheers!

@talexander - perhaps you may find a bottle of Highwood 25 Year Old Calgary Stampede Whisky. I'd be willing to trade a bottle of Alberta Premium 30 yr old for the 25 yo Stampede offering.

@paddockjudge - ahhhh - then perhaps I will buy two of the Highwood so I have one and can trade you the other....I enjoy the Alberta Premium 30 but you know, I might even like the regular Alberta Premium more.......

@talexander - if that is the case, then it sounds like a two fer trade; two nas Alberta Premium fer one Highwood 25 Year Old Calgary Stampede Whisky.

@Sroberts86, September 11-16 is Kentucky Bourbon Festival, if by some chance you hadn't noticed.

@Victor - go ahead Victor, pour some salt in the wound - It was a tough choice and I went with my heart; hopefully I'll come home with a liver.

@paddockjudge, oh I won't be attending the Kentucky Bourbon Festival this year, but I thought that @Sroberts86 should be aware that this week is the peak period of the annual bourbon calendar in Kentucky, because he is there now (or in the last few days at least) and had expressed interest in visiting some bourbon distilleries. I am sure that you will have a good time down at Forty Creek.

Please do excuse my ignorance. I just assumed it was part of the bourbon festival. @cpstecroix

Yeah cheers. Been based in Chicago but I am heading to the festivities over the weekend. Particulalry looking forward to buffalo trace. Lucky enough to have stopped at warehouse liquors while in Chicago. Spent a few hours tasting some north american whiskies, had a great time and learnt lots as well as picking up some really exciting stuff. The proprietor, Gene, was fantastic! @Victor

cpstecroix wrote: "So....how was it???" - It was incredible! This was my first visit to Forty Creek World Headquarters and it certainly will not be my last. John Hall, whisky maker, has crafted another world class blend. The whole weekend was about class. John may be a first-generation whisky maker, but he ranks amongst the industry's nobility. Amazing man, amazing whisky, amazing weekend.

It conflicted with a race event that I was registered for, so while I was going to be in the Toronto area, I wasn't going to be able to make it...now the race has been cancelled and tickets are all sold out... :( Maybe next year. Spirits of Kingston in February 2014 is still looking good, though!

A Whisky festival in Kingston, who would have though? Anyone go to the first one? How was it?

@Nozinan - apparently the first one went quite well...did anyone from Connosr go last year? Any feed back?

Here is the website: www.justaweedram.com/WhiskyFestival.html

Kingston is closer for me, and I have family there, so it makes a good reason to go and visit (and take my brother with me while our wives sit around and chat).
