@Nozinan, I will see you there. I am looking forward to your company during the deconstruction tasting. Sampling each of the mature single grains is a special treat for me.

@paddockjudge as I suspected you made Whisky Weekend a success at Forty Creek!
Excellent experience! After a bottle swap of sorts, we arrived at the distillery just in time for the masterclass. Tasting samples of spirits from the three grains that make up FC blends was very educational. The rye, barley and corn were all very different. Interesting that the casks are prepared differently (char-wise).
Then I put the three together in a glass and like magic.....a very FC-like nose and favour.
I had never tried copper pot, so it was nice that it was part of the tasting. @paddockjudge and I has got a sneak preview of the Evolution before the tasting so this wasn't a complete surprise, but it was a great finish to the conventional spirits in the tasting. The spirit does evolve with time in the glass....
The last pour was their honey spiced whisky called Spike. It was very sweet. Not something I would try but a nice palate cleanser.
Nice loot bag....a FC a whisky weekend 2014 flask, keychain and money clip (I've never figured out what that was for).
After the tasting, waiting for my wife and kids to come back from Apple picking, I picked up my reserved bottles and picked up a couple more (thanks @paddockjudge again for getting me a couple of signed bottles) for the future, then we tasted a number of expressions at the bar, including:
Evolution
Confederation Oak a Reserve batch D
Double barrel
The spike spiced whisky
Their cream liqueur
A Chinese tea infused whisky, most of the sample of which I had to dump. But 2 minutes later there appeared an interesting dry tea finish.
It was great that we had to wait a while for our ride....and that the bar didn't close.
A very enjoyable dram adventure.
