I notice no price is listed. Why do I suspect it's much more than the $25 for the standard (and presumably better) 45% ABV stuff?
And what happens to all the recalled bottles? The stated reason for lowering the ABV in the first place was to keep up with demand, so cases of recalled bottles now means even less to go around.
Thanks for the update @WhiskyBee! And a very good question, what does happen to all the recalled bottles!?
Personally, as a natural born collector I don't have anything against the idea of picking up one of the lower ABV bottles. I do however take big issue with the amount which will certainly be charged for them. The fact that there is no price stated is quite telling!
Odd, you would think that with 'low supply' being the alleged reason for the move to 42% that MM would recall all of those 42% bottles and drop them back into the vatting tank to lower higher % abv stock down to 45%, for re-bottling. Or would this move not be allowed due to FDA recall regulations (or something of a regulatory nature), even if the bottle seals have not been broken?
@Pudge72, I was wondering the exact same things myself. I've seen nothing regarding how many bottles were recalled, which I think would be a determining factor in how profitable re-vatting the stuff would be. If such re-vatting is allowed, that is.
@two-bit-cowboy, guess I'll have to take back my comment about ridiculous prices for collectables! Seriously though, I commend them for adopting that attitude. I'm tired of being treated with zero respect by these retailers.
