I managed to buy a bottle of Ardbeg Corryvreckan for $69 US. I was going into the liquor store to buy Uigeadail but the Corryvreckan ended up be much cheaper.

@HP12 750 ml bottle of HP12 at 36.99. Never found it cheaper. A store in Massachusetts.

@msudukie I think the problem is that it automatically logs in my location info since I have signed in before. I went to the Towson, MD store, but the other MD store (Laurel) has it for the same price.

@msudukie I checked some other states and for them I'm getting the higher price that you saw as well.

Follow up: after buying a (still unopened) bottle of Talisker 18 for $76 on Saturday, I went to the website today to reserve another bottle. The price is now $99.99. Although I'm lucky that I caught it when I did, I now see what Onibubba meant by "bunkering" an extra bottle or two.

Just got a bottle of Redbreast Cask Strength for $43. It was supposed to be $55 (which was already a special sale price), but it rang up as a bottle of the regular 12 year. Hooray for mislabeled merchandise!

I found a bottle of Caol Ila 18 sitting behind a cash register for $74. read some good reviews and grabbed it up. haven't seen it anywhere else. Also, I have my eye on a 2004 Highland Park 25 at $225 for a birthday bottle later this year, not a bad price for an older bottling i would think. As for talisker 18, I too grabbed 4 bottles at avg price of $75 before the price hike!

@ghall5321 I had something like that happen to me. The LCBO where I live rang up a 750 mL bottle of Glennfiddich 15 as a 375 mL bottle of Glenfiddich 12. Total savings $39 CAD.

I just returned from my neighborhood liquor store with their last bottle of Balvenie 15. The bottle is 18 years old and I was charged $65 period--no tax. The son who owns the store was very happy to make the deal, but his mother was cursing in Korean even as she rang up my order :)
I'm usually not a superstitious person, but this seems almost too good to be true...

Highland Park 8 is one. The MacTarnahan (Glenfarclas 9.5) is another.

In the upper range (for me) I would say the Glenfarclas 40 YO is a steal of a deal for what it is.

I just got a bunch of really good deals at the Lome, Togo Duty Free about 3 weeks ago. The prices after currency exchange were as follows Arbelour 18 (700 ml) $76 USD, Bowmore Tempest Batch 2 (700ml) $56 USD, Talisker 10 (1L) $54 USD, Caol Ila 12 (700 ml) $38 USD, Balvenie 12 Double wood (700 ml) $42, Glenfarclas 21 (700ml) $96 USD, Lagavulin 16 (700ml) $58 USD, Dalwhinne 15 (700ml) $35, Glenmo Nectar d'Or (1L) $72, Strathisla 12 (1L) $42, Laphroaig QC (700 ml) $38 USD. Prices in Countries where I live are generally twice the going rate of those above so I was very happy about being able to stock up on my Cabinet's in Monrovia and Yaoundé. I experienced no hassles coming through customs at either end, although security forces in Togo seemed very interested in my selections.

Picked up a Aberfeldy 21 year old for $49.99. Seemed like a good deal for a 21 yo. I've never tried the 12 yo or the 21 yo so I'm looking forward to trying it. I've put it aside for later.

Old Pulteney 21 yrs for 69 euros from a tax free ferry traveling from Turku, Finland to Stockholm, Sweden. And surprisingly it was after it had already received the Whisky Bible award 2012! I'll imagine that nowadays the price has gone much higher everywhere...

Just landed a bottle of Ardbeg Blasda for $100...that's a deal to me considering it was a 2008 limited release. Not many around these days I'd guess.

Picked up Laphroaig PX cask duty free for the equivalent of US $60, they packaged it up in it's little sealed bag, I left with a smile. Flew home and opened the carton to find that someone had replaced the bottle with a bottle of Quarter Cask... Not happy, but not a total loss I guess. But steal of a deal? I guess you could say that someone did steal my deal.

@CanadianNinja

Wow! That's terrible @Whisk. May I ask in what country did this happen?

12 years ago 0

Whisk replied

@CanadianNinja Yeah, I was very unimpressed to put it mildly. It was bought at Changi airport in Singapore. Also picked up The Balvenie 16 triple cask, which thankfully did have the correct bottle inside.

@CanadianNinja

Very disappointed to hear that @Whisk. Changi Airport is one of my favorite airports, I've had nothing but good experiences shopping there. That's really too bad! Anyway, enjoy your Balvenie my friend!
