Compass Box's Great King Street "The Artist's Blend" was designed to be drunk on the rocks or with soda water. I think general retail is $40US.

JW Black, Ballantines 17, Grant's Family Reserve, Famous Grouse the Black Grouse. All good rockers.

I was pleasantly surprised at Christmas when one of my neighbours put a glass of JW. Red Label in my hand...astounded, in fact; it was very drinkable with a flavour profile that changed as the ice melted. Crisp red apples, a rather pleasant nose and clean full finish made this a better 'drop' than I remember the 'Black' to be! "No, no, no ginger, this is fine!", and it was!

My personal favorite of late ist the JW Double Black - a nice fuller alternative to the JW Black 12. Goes rather well with ice. Pleasantly smoky with hints of dark chocolate. Maple syrup starts to become evident as the ice melts. You can knock back a few in one evening if so inclined...

I have never tried it, but B-N-J (Bailie Nicol Jarvie) Blended always reviews very well, and is one that I am very keen to get my hands on.

I'm looking for a decently priced blended Scotch to drink on the rocks. All my single malts I drink neat with a few drops of water, but sometimes on those summer days or when I'm out and want a cocktail, I would like something on the rocks besides my standard Wild Turkey. I recently bought bottles of Teacher's and Clan McGregor. The Teacher's was so good, I just want to drink it like a single malt!! I find Clan good but with a strong alcohol aftertaste. So far, my two best have been Glenfiddich and Glenlivet. Those are good, but not as inexpensive as I would like for an everyday cocktail. Any comments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!! Slainte!
