Blending Laphroaig?

I've had a few bottles of Laphroaig in my day - and I like them - but I find that they're always a bit too "sharp" on the finish to be really moreish. They're good, just not moreish. Drinking some Compass Box Flaming Heart (which is maybe 1/3 Laphroaig I think) got me thinking that blending the Laphroaig in roughly 50/50 proportion with something could end up being the right mix of deliciousness and peatiness. Has anyone tried this and had any success? I know I've seen a Double Barrel Laphroaig and Macallan, which does sound like it might be good. Flaming Heart is mostly Clynelish I think. Please let me know if you've had any successes (or failures!).

Not so much blends, I do like mixing my whisky before drinking on occasion. I have found that a 50/50 pour of Laphroaig Triple Wood goes very nicely with the 18YO. Also, the Triple Wood 50/50 with Ardbeg Alligator is very nice.

Never met a Laphroaig I did not thoroughly enjoy.

@Onibubba yes blending from the same distillery is always fun, though I'm surprised that the Laphroaig and Ardbeg go together!

I like the following mixture: three parts Caol Ila, two parts Talisker (older batches if possible), one part Laphroaig. You can also substitute Highland Park 12 for Talisker, particularly if the HP is running low in the bottle and is older. Ditto with the CI. It mixes quite well when it is tamed by some time in the bottle. Not so with Laphroaig. It's great freshly opened, the spicy number in the mix.

@rigmorole Thanks for the comment. I did actually mix some HP12 with Laphroaig 10 once, and it worked better than I expected. Maybe not better than either one on it's own, but it was good.

Tonight I think I'll try 2/3's Laphroaig QC and 1/3 Glenfarclas 15. I will report back later!

@lostboyscout That's the kind of thing I was thinking about trying - but I don't have any good sherried whisky right now! Please do let me know how it goes.

@valuewhisky Alright so blended in approx. the portions mentioned above:

Nose - really splits between the sherried 'Farclas and the Laphroaig seaweed peat. Laphroaig is still coming out a little stronger.

Palate - Mostly Laphroaig early on, but this is pretty interesting. They really have combined to create something more complex. Tastes pretty woody. It is very intriguing but I think I'm stuck in between the two flavours - I don't prefer it over either of its constituents, though they are both present.

Finish - That peaty Laphroaig is still taking the edge.

@lostboyscout Cool! Thanks for the notes. I'm interested to try my Laphroaig with something heavily sherried.
