Bookers 2015-5 Maw Maw's Batch 64% 6yr 7mo 3days
Nose: Tobacco and spice join together like a fine cigar. Alcohol is not at all subtle. Other scents have to be searched out. Adding water brings vanilla, oak, and some rye notes.
Taste: Cinnamon and leather. Lacks sweetness. Spicy and sour.
Finish: Hot, woody, sour
Balance: Unrefined. Too hot for its own good.
Final Thoughts: This Bookers leaves me feeling conflicted. I have reviewed 5 of the six 2015 releases. Two have been very good. One was good, but outside of the normal Booker's profile. Two have been unsatisfactory. If Jim Beam expects this to be a $100 release, then there needs to be a major effort to improve consistency. I hope that the last batch of 2015 closes strong.
